(for the dev team)
Heyas, i was wondering what the chances were for getting a Hi-Poly model pack for NS were. HL is now 4 years old and unless you have been slack and are still running the HL min req's most people have computers that are WAY above spec for HL (personally i have a 1.4 athlon and a GF2mx and i get about 90FPS).
Since the HL engine has outlived it planned life by heaps i think its time people started making much higer poly models that computers nowadays can handle pretty easliy (just look at some of the hi-poly packs for CS)

i get 100 never less with a 1ghz gf2 64mb...
and timerefresh in .3 seconds i get 350....
And, "if you've been slack and are still running the min. req..."
**obscenity**. Not all of us have the money to upgrade. Some of us have to work for it. Not everybody has mommy and daddy wrapped around their finger. (just 20$ more and I can get that Gf2... that's all i need...just that, and i'll be fine )

NS finally made me upgrade my video card, and I picked up a 64Mb GF2 for ?37. I'm sure with a little shopping around you could find a similarly-priced one in the US (if you mean US$, natch). Little upgrades like that are cheap now.

Um...hm...do you guys know something that I don't?? I have a 1.5 Pentium, GeForce2MX, 300-ish ram, I run NS in 1024x768 and I get around 70-ish fps by myself, and 40~60-ish playing with 6v6. Seems like my system specs are ALMOST the same as yours, how are you getting 99 constant fps!? Do u know something I don't?
and yes I have the newest drivers.

What the #$^@?
I've got a Pentium IV 1.4Ghz system with 512MB RDRAM and a GeForce 3 Ti500, but when I play Natural Selection with 15 bots it lags so badly its disgraceful. What tweaks are you using dood?

Haha silleh persun. It does have a limit of 100fps, unfortunately, and it has been proven (somewhere) so it's likely your friend's ingame screenshots were edited, which was what I used to do when I first got Counter-Strike and I pretended that I had some bad-**obscenity** rig that could churn 200 fps.
Tip :
cl_showfps (1 - 0) - When enabled, this will display your FPS in the left corner of the screen.
fps_max (#) - This line will set your max framerate. Ex : "fps_max 60" will set a max framerate of 60.
We're not insulted (if I may speak for the rest)! . . . there was a case where someone mentioned that they were going to create high poly models, but they announced it in an incredibly insulting way . . . on the whole, though, if someone wants to crank out some higher poly versions, more power to 'em.
Though, who knows-- I'm not sure where Flayra will want to put his resources, but I imagine that when (or, if) CZ ever comes out, there may be some official enhancements made based on the modified engine.
That's all STC, of course, so don't take it as gospel . . . .

if the ENGINE was only made to take a 1000 poly model MAX, why would you make a 10000 poly model and all that time gone to waste?
but hey, i would like to see higher-definition too. even with a 500mhz computer, my 1337 GeForce 2 can take it!!!
HL can only handle so much. It's the HL engine which is the true bottle-neck, and not the system specs.
ive already tryed to compile Highpoly models but then or i would get an "TOO MANY POLYS" or the compiler would just freeze forever
