anyone remember this old game?
the other day i was playing peasants quest over on homestarrunner and it reminded me of the old kings quest series. good games. i never really got into KQ1-4, but 5 and 6 were great. i still have kings quest 5 in the oriignal 1990 box, and i have 1-7 in another box, but i lost the cds. so i went ahead and installed all 9 floppy disks (there were also those huge floppy disks in the box if you wanted to use those, thats how old it is) and i played through it. its amazing how much i could remember. only took me a few hours to get to the end, then i just couldnt remember how to get mordacks wand, but i got that today and then beat the game. as soon as i find the cd for KQ6 ill have to play through that one, only problem i remember there being some puzzles i never figured out and i just used this notebook i found in my brothers drawer that had all the pictures drawn out that answered the puzzles, but that is long gone. maybe this time i can figure it out myself.

Do we remember? DO WE REMEMBER? King's Quest is one of the monuments of classic computer gaming! Of course we remember! It was back when Sierra made good computer games!

I only had that one where you get stranded on an island (and eventually 5 islands). I never really bothered playing it much...I think I got stuck at some archer in a courtyard ...or some big wall with symbols on it or something. I think it was the 5th or 7th one, but it came on a CD.

"Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow" if that rings any bells.

I have King's Quest: Mask of Eternity in my hands atm. I think I also have a box set of all the old ones hidden some place. Didn't you have to type what you wanted to do in the 1st one? I hated that because I couldn't (and still can't) spell very well.

Mask of Eternity was the only time I ever heard of the series. I did hear some good stuff about the old ones though. (After going online to find more about mask of eternity).

My favorite in the Quest series was Hero's Quest, followed by Space Quest and then King's Quest.

Still have my copy of KQ1 (VGA, 5 1/4" floppy), as well as Quest for Glory. Just noticed that the box for KQVI (Heir today, gone tomorrow) is up on the shelf with it. Pretty sure I have KQVII somewhere, too.

    So yeah. Classic gaming.

KQV and Wolfenstein 3D were the first 'real' computer games I ever played.

I remember spending an entire summer around my middle-schoolish years playing KQ6 day after day, both routes no less. Some of the most fantastic games ever to grace

I really want more games like this. One of my pet mod projects I had in the works was a KQ-style adventure game built on the Unreal engine or something... all the same point-and-click interface and everything, just with a series of cameras fixed in a 3D world with cool flybys between areas for a little graphics pizzazz.

I remember going into work with my dad (who is/was a computer technican) during school holidays when there was no-one to look after me at home.

We'd be sat in a mostly empty office with him pulling PCs apart and soldering stuff off in a corner and me sat there in a chair far to big for me, feet dangling of the ground, chucking bananas at gorrilas from the tops of buildings and playing KQ1

I only played Kings Quest 6... and loved it, but it was difficult, first game I played on a computer at the age of 7 or so, my Aunt showed me the game. I kind of wish I had it, could use it to play when I'm bored.

EDIT: Actually, I found it, turns out, most of them all are abandonware, and a lot others on that site..

*URL NUKED.* Previously-linked site hosts NON-abandonware games. No warez. -Talesin

Page contains Kings quest 5 and 6, and leisure suit larry games...Other KQ are on previous page.

what about the books and stuff needed. i dont remember if kq6 needed a book but i know kq5 needed things from the manual because there would be random parts where you had to refer to the manual
