What Of Wicca Do You Know?

Just making this since I'm curious how much people know about this religion. Many of my friends consider themselves Wiccan. I've been reading up on it simply because I don't know a lot of what actual beliefs are besides stereotype. I actually find it quite interesting.

Belief in two major deities, God and Goddess, who each are 'imperfect' in that they aren't pure of heart, they both have dark sides as well as light. If I understand right some people still worship egyption or roman/greek gods with understanding that they still make up the greater deities.

The pentagram isn't some goat sacrificing symbol. It represents the spirit, and four elements (earth, air, fire, water)(they should always point up, and all I know is if it points down its really bad I don't know why).

Lots of stupid people join it for 'shock and awe' and have no frickin clue what its actually supposed to be about.

A lot of it pays homage to celtic and pre christian tradition.

Annnyways.... I dunno what of it there is to discuss. Perhaps you don't know much. I'm not advocating joining it, I'm not doing it myself, but for me learning about it cleared up a lot of stereotpyes.

    Ok. here goes.

Wicca. There is alot of diffirent views on how this works. Just like every other religion there are several branches. All of them offcourse believe that they are right and the others are wrong. But it usually boils down to the goddess (she goes by alot of names depending on how you look at it) and the moon (wich is the same thing.

The goddess. She is the young sexy woman, the mother and the old woman all at once. This is a symbol for birth and death and other stages in life. It is supposed to be a circle (hence all wiccan symbols are circles in a form). There is also a male diety usually called "the horned one" who is the symbol for what happens between death and rebirth. Not the afterlife. More like how dead things return to the soil.

As for the pentagram you are basicly right. There is however diffrient views on what it means when pointed either way. As the uppward/downward point is a symbol for the mind/spirit (also know as the fith element) it is not good/bad in a good/evil sense. It´s more like safe/dangerous.
Upward means according to the more common views safe, harmony, serenity and most important, closed.
Downward means somewhat the opposit. But that does not mean evil. It is used by people who seek knowledge or are trying to contact something out of this world. There is however no way of controling the input as it is open to everything. Hence called dangerous and not commonly used. Wearing a downward pentagram is considered to be like painting a bullseye on your head.

So how do the wiccans express their religion?
Most of them just honor the highlights of the year (solstice and such) and are generally very nice and cosidering persons. Since it´s a ground rule in wicca that every action has a reaction and that everything has a price they tend to be very balanced people.

This covers some basic ideas. But as I said. There are a thousand diffrient views on this so you might aswell research this yourself (get some coffee going).

    have a bal.

I thought it was the religion where the followers believe that the earth is god and such. Goes to show how much I knew.

The rules are pretty much: You can do what you want as long as you harm no one.

They also have the three-fold law: That all good and bad you do will return to you three fold.

    I know quite a bit.

First of all, it's a great way to sink money on "Power Crystals" and crap.

Secondly, I know that I'm a 'Fire' which means I'm supposed to have wicked freaky sex with everything with legs that looks like it'd work.
