Hosting A Server

<div class="IPBDescription">restarts computer</div> Say im trying to host a server to learn to bunnyhop, or to test out a map i just found or anything...

It begins loading, but restarts my computer before it finishes loading

I can join games fine, play ns fine, ect...

Umm... WTH

Abit A17 Mobo
2GB 2x1024 Corsair XMS 2.8V 3-3-7-3
GF6800Ultra @ stock speeds.... Driver versions tested include many different 6xxx and all cause it
120GB WD hdd & 8GB WD HDD
DVD RW drive
Mild OC of 206FSB Game accelerator on, and NBstrap at 667 to engage PAT

Try starting a server with another Half-Life mod, see if it restarts.

This is completely a stab in the dark, regardless of the results I don't have any recommended steps to take afterward.

Thanks for the start...

I tried a regular tfc server and it worked fine.....

This is BS... i wanna learn to bhop but i cant load the BHOP map... :-\

Another stab in the dark, by reset do you mean all by itself or do you do it manualy?

If its automatic it could be the CPU temp overheating and automaticaly shutting down, cheap any temprature readings right after a reboot.

You do know that any counterstrike server from version 1.4 on up bunnyhopping has been taken out and fixed becuase it was a bug.

Assuming you are talking about cs.

if your talking about ns then you don't really need to bunnyhop all that much unless your doging bullets.

Also if you want to learn to bunny hop the best way is to play online with other players shooting at you.

Actually, if you want to bunnyhop, then you can learn in TFC just fine. It should be the exact same movement technique.

Pick the medic, they seem to have the speed that is closest to a skulk, then go to the warpath map. It is really really long and really linear, but has a few turns and changes in elevation. You can just go from red team spawn to blue team spawn and back, to learn how to bunnyhop.

Bhopp = an interesting way of exploiting the physics (air speed mianly) of HL.

the way you do it basicaly consists of doing half circle jumps in the direction you want to go, alternating the direction each time. You only use the strafe keeys and the mouse.

*note, you can only do this as aliens, it is removed from rines*

It realy sounds like you are overheating or getting a hidden BSOD:

2 options:
1) kill the OC
2) Update all your drivers.

And it is very possible for you to be able to run other hl mods as a server b/c they are MUCH less demanding.
