<div class="IPBDescription">One released, one on the verge</div> For users of the Athlon64 (like me):
<a href='http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/default.mspx' target='_blank'>http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/64bit/default.mspx</a>
The second release candidate of XP64-bit will be released shortly. It's a free (and unsupported in any way) download, or you can order a CD for a nominal shipping fee.
For server admins/engineers:
<a href='http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/servicepack/default.mspx' target='_blank'>http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...ck/default.mspx</a>
Windows 2003 SP1 RC2 is now available. Again free, again unsupported. But good for testing purposes, as the changes in 2003 with SP1 are *extreme*.

That way they can play it off as a bug.
Because the service pack is being released. The OS was released a while ago.
wait... he was using a beta of longhorn. Sorry <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Yes, I know, 64-bit driver support can be a pain from what I hear. It will get better as time goes on.
As for release the release date of Windows XP 64-bit and Longhorn, I talked to a microsoft rep 2 months ago, and he said they are both to be released late this year or early next year.

Unsupported in that it's Beta code and unless you are part of the actual Beta program (like an IBM or an HP), if you have problems you're on your own.
It's definitely not basement code - 64-bit is the future and all code here is being readied for a move to it. Same with just about every big software company out there that develops for Windows...
As for Longhorn, it's in Alpha, so not quite sure how your friend is using a copy that has not yet been written. <!--emo&::nerdy::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/nerd-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='nerd-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
64-bit XP will almost definitely be released this year, based on being in RC2 status. Longhorn client (at the very earliest), is probably more like late 2006 or 2007. Longhorn server? No one knows...
