Hi

I'd like to know if someone know a company or someone doing sponsoring for a clan or a public server. I want to start a little community with some motivated people but I can't host a server at my house at this time.

If someone is interested, answer back.

I believe I was playing with you the other day on my server. What sort of thing are you interested in? Are you basically looking for a server that will give you a place to hang out (and maybe do some practicing and such)?

Why not just pay for a server host...if you have a couple people donate, it shouldn't be that bad for each person per month.

There are alot of servers out there, Quite a few of them only have a community of less than 20 people. Find a nice little server where you get a low ping, and talk to the server op, or admins. Ask them if they need or want help building a community. What are you going to bring to the community you want to setup? Your looking for someone to supply and run the server for you. Are you going to make the webpage? or setup and run the forums? I run a 12 player server now, i'd love to have a webpage and forums for it but i don't have time to do all that. I'm sure there are other server ops out there who also would like some help with things like that.

I see players all the time who come in to play on the server and ask "Why don't you have a Webpage, and Forums?" I tell them i dont have time to do all that. I then ask them if you want them why dont you make us a webpage or setup the forums, they usually say they dont know how or dont want to or they dont have the money.

Well ya know what? When i First started running game servers i didnt know how either. i started going to different webpages reading the FAQ, and Searching the forums. Once you get started its not all that difficult if you can simply read directions. it will be the same for webpages and forums too.

Basically what i want to know is What are you going to put into this Community? What do you have to offer that people should be sponsoring you with their time, equiptment, and money?

I know how to do a website, run a forum. i have a hosting acoount, i know how to do a server on linux and on windows, i know how to install metamod, amx and all that crap <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' />

So what exactly do you want? Someone to give you money to do that? or a hosting company to give you a server to run all that on?

sponsorship useualy entails a free hlds process or "game server".

typicaly 16 player.

If your looking for sponsorship please note the following, as I myself run a games service provider (GSP).

Clan specific

1:) List your achivements, Ladder,leagues (IF your not high ranking don't bother asking)

2:) Must have a clan website, which is well designed and can have the appropriate GSP branding applied to it.

3:) Must have at least 6 clan members who are active.

4:) Must have an active IRC channel (More than 10 people!)

5:) Why will it benefit the GSP to sponsor your clan? (Better reasons than I'll wear your t-shits @ lan please)

Community Specific

1:) What is your comunity, what do you hope to achive?

2:) Why will it benefit the GSP to sponsor your comunity?

3:) Provide proof of how popular you comunity is, web statistics, irc stats etc...

4:) What type of promotion do you intend to do in order to promote you comunity?

WARNINGS & NOTES

1:) DO NOT Approach a GSP unprepared and attempt to "wing it", especially if your seeking sponsorship from a quality provider.

2:) Be prepared to be told no, don't go to one GSP get knocked back and think I'll never get sponsored! Ask the GSP why they refused you, take their comments, improve and try again...... Don't go wandering around GSP's without taking comments, or you will never be sponsored.

3:) Remember that sponsoring you DOES cost the GSP money! Too many sponsorships have I canceled due to the fact they treat the service as worthless.

4:) Don't let the GSP Dictate you! Remember GSP's are out to make money or provide a community through promotions. Some will attempt to get more than their monies worth from you, i.e over branding your website.

5:) Treat your sponsorship as a Buisness proposal.... You wouldn't go to your bank manager for a buisness loan saying, "yeh we deeserv sp0ns0sh1p coz we are so pr0 and stuff". GSP's don't sposnor kiddies (good ones anyway).

5:) If you secure sposnorship rember YOU are responcible for you usernames and passwords, I have removed sponsorship before now for someone giving the details to a mate to "tweak" the server process. The idiot set sys_ticrate @ 10k and minrate to 9000. And decided to run HLTV also. Remeber if you want to run extra processes BNC's HLTV ... you'd do well to speak to the sponsoring GSP.
Taking the pi** will lose you your sponsorship.
