Deep sea stuff generally dosnt like rapidly becoming surface stuff. Like when I was cod fishing, you'd haul a fish from up deep fast and all it's guts would be coming out of it's mouth.
Giant squid generally can't handle coming to the surface, from what we know about their body chemistry. Their bouyancy system works in such a way that if they come up too far, they can't get back down, and then because their blood loses its oxygen carrying capability at warmer tempuratures, they suffocate.

I'm still waiting for a carcass of CARCHARODON MEGALODON (otherwise known as the the great shark to wash a shore, or better yet, for someone to spot one.
This shark would easily dwarf a great white, hell, i'm sure it could easily eat an adult carcharius.
This will give you a rough idea of the size of the animal:
I can't see why the creatures can't exist. The coelacanth apparently died out 65 million years ago, and apparently people have discovered 2-3 areas of the world where coelacanth still exist. To put it in perspective, carcharodon megalodon died out 2 million years ago...
For you sea monster lovers out there, check out 'Meg,' and its sequel, 'The Trench.' The books are purely fictional, but they offer an interesting idea of how the shark species would survive. And of course they are a great read! I also heard meg is going to be developed into a feature-length film.

Folks seem to have this weird Jaws vison of sharks. A 16ft. shark is a christing big shark. I was in the water with a 12 ft. blue and I nearly shat myself.
