Sorry but sattelite is always going to have a huge ping due to the fact that it has to send a signal into orbit and bounce it back down to earth. Friend of mine used to have a sattelite connection and the lowest ping he ever managed was about 800.

Yep. Even at the speed of light it's a 400ms round trip from the ground transmitter, to the satellite bounce, to your dish.

Satellite is totally unsuitable for gaming, end of story.

Depends really what kind of satellite is used, but the high-orbit ones suck badly <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

You get better pings from a 56k modem than from a satellite. You'll probably browse the internet faster, too. The only advantage for a satellite, over 56k, is downloading large files.

    well,
    here in Germany,
satelite links are normaly provided with an UPLink via ISDN or modem
    and DOWNLink via satelite.
If U have phone, maybe U can go online without the satelite-con?
