I was a marine commander, and just built a turret factory and four turrets. Three turrets were completed, fourth hadn't been started. At that point, the marine building was killed, and the skulk that killed him took out the factory and the three completed turrets. Then backup arrived and took out the alien. They built the last, uncompleted one, and to everyone's surprise, even though it didn't have a factory near it, it became active. It shot at enemies trying to get in (It was in the engine room in bast, so it was a hectic area) even though there was no factory.
I can see an easy way a marine could abuse the FF-marine-structure bug and get a bunch of un-shut-downable turrets this way.

I know this will probably be cleared up in the next Client patch, but I've seen a handful of new players get confused when all the turrets protecting them suddenly stop shooting. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
