i found this in the ns media pack it is called GL_FINAL_FULL it is SOO friggin awsome! much cooler than the ugly GL right now (granted it IS renderd) if someone would explain this to me thatd be cool.

that grenade laucher is really old. that's what we used to use back in 1.0 i think (i *think* the new one came about in v2.0).

that gun was going to be the hmg until they made a better one. so they just used that model for the grenade launcher instead.

it never made sense... the grenades were way bigger than the barrel and the reasoning behind the whole dual barrel thing is beyond me...

all in all, it was a stupid grenade launcher. the new one's better.

Yep, that's the GL. How you could possibly see that as better than the current GL I have no idea. The current model is designed, used, and moves realistically. That model looks like what it was designed to be, a machine gun. And I wouldn't take it over the current HMG or LMG model either. I heard at one point they were planning on saving it to use as another weapon, but I assume those plans were scrapped a long time ago.

Yes that was the old GL, back when it reloaded in like 2-3 seconds and used clips and didn't look like what it was supposed to be. What was really fun was when you could fill your weapons straight from the armory instead of needing to reload. You just fire two nades, click the armory, fire two nades, click, etc. Relocating to Engine room back when it only had one big entrance and then using all GLs and two HMGs for point defense was like the most fun way to drag a game out for hours EVER.

the new gl looks like it could fall apart. anyway this doesnt realy look like a GL i guess what i meant was the model is just cooler regardless of what it "is"
i would love to see this as the HMG/LMG (prolly LMG since i hate that model as well)
.........actualy come to think of it i hate all the weapons models cept the pistol......

the old GL [ < 2.0 ] was actually going to be the HMG before it was used as a temporary GL model replacement before the current one was made and used.

Er, actually, the GL is quite realistic. That's pretty much how GL's look. They are generally a bit less compact, though.

Edit: Wait, are you talking about the old (the one in the picture posted) or the new (the one in-game) GL?

ah yes the old GL had a 4 round clip in 1.04, before that i think it had a 6 round clip fun times.

haha.. that was actually the old HMG model before it got remodeled, and then the GL model never got finished in time so they used that model for the GL.. those were the days.............

i always like that GL better, it just looks awesome, who cares if the barrels are smaller than the grenades that come out of it ! i didnt ! and anyone who played with it didnt. And who cares that the clip is clear and u can see that it holds bullets not grenades ! not me!

the current GL serves a purpose, slowing down the fire rate by actually having to reload the thing greatly reduced the weapons effeciancy for base defence as swift idiot explains. The current GL looks and works fine in the current game.

I wonder if theyll ever bring out a HMG/GL like the M16 with gl equip, then this gun might see a revival. as it could double as both a hmg (two barrels ontop and a GL that big peice of crap on the bottom could be edited into a GL barrel)

But this gun would be total Pwnige pretty much a BFG so i cant see it happening, maybe in combat or something.

A lot of seemingly new people in this thread are suffering from "Wow, that's different and automatically cooler because it's different!" syndrome.

It's not a better choice just because it looks different. And honestly, I think the only reason you think it's a lot cooler is due to the fact that you haven't been playing with it for the last few months. =P

I played when 1.04 was around, and well I like both the GL back then and the one they put in now, the model they used i think is nice. The only thing that I don't like about it now is when you have to reload and you only have 3 nades left. You have to go through the whole cycle of loading all 4 nades even though you just have 3 before you can fire...... but I think they fixed that in the beta thats out I am not sure.

I liked it back when the GL had a clip size of 6 and a much lower reload time. It was much more useful back then.

If I remember right, that's actually the original HMG.. which was then pushed over to the GL placeholder model when the current HMG was created. You have found a gem.

well, if you dont like the current models for NS, head over to nsarmslab.com, they have a lot of custom models that you can use. although, i never found a good shotgun to replace the default one. i want a good SPAZ that comes with replacement sounds
