Selecting Marines

There has to be a better way to organise your forces. I was comming a game just now when we comfortably held 2/3 of the RTs including double but from there simply couldn't progress, because I never managed to select a decent group of marines to go and do anything. The view is so low and their movement of course so unpredictable that I think the most I had selected (other than 'select all') was 3 rines. That's piecemeal. By the time I had got over to the rest of the group I wanted, selected them, then moved back to the location and given the order the first group were already dead: and if they weren't they were when help got there. I would use groupings but it gets disorientating and I've found myself ordering units across the map because I thought they were somewhere they weren't.

Is there a better way to organise your troops? If the overview map could be used to issue orders that would be superb. Drag select, order, done. Right now I find it very hard to do anything with such a small view of the world.

I think that the command chair is horrid if you look to grouping. You dont have the shift-option to pick one by one just that huge "select all".....

Are you using the minimap to navigate around the map? It should be a bit faster to select a group, click minimap, give wp, click minimap to find next group, select, click minimap to waypoint, give waypoint.

It's all about the minimap.. and the mic

    Way 1:

    1) Press TAB and look for one or 2 guys who have the best K:D ratio (hopefully its not you, the commander because that wouldn't be so good..)
    2) Tell that guy(s) to ninja into one of the hives while you instruct the rest of the team to pressure another hive, creating a diversion.
    3) If the ninjas are undiscovered, drop them a pg and prep for siegeing. Otherwise, if your ninjas die or are spotted, you should instruct your main force to prep for sieging.

    Way 2:

    1) same as way 1 for this step
    2) hand him/them a jp + hmg or shotty
    3) spawn camp/pwn the hive while everyone else gets rts or sieges the main

So as you can see, sometimes, your strategy is going to have to rely on diversion, while at other times, you could solely rely on brute force to accomplish something .

I was talking about having the overview clickable without ever thinking that the mini map was already! It would still be nice to have the overview clickable, though.

I know what you mean about a mic in particular: I was ejected earlier today and when the new commander got in all he said was 'oh' and carried on doing what I had been. Only a few people had been reading the chat and new what was actually going on. The others probably assumed I was randomly ordering them about.

If your Marines aren't listening to voice comm, they surely won't listen to your waypoints. It just happens so that you get dealt a bad hand of rines; just deal with it. Or play on better servers, or with people you know, where your soldiers listen to you and won't be afraid to die for you!

the select all button works wonders. And if you really need to together, beacon.

If you beacon to get them together and they immediately scatter, beacon again, and again, until they actually follow your orders.

dude, you should be calling each rine by name and you should be telling them where to go by naming the room. Anounce to the team that if they don't know their way around to ask for waypoints. then the people you know who need waypoints, you worry about that with.

You're main route of communication to rines should always be the mic and not waypoints. I don't ever use waypoints with marines in my clan. They get in the way of the marines line of sight. the only time you ever need them is for pub nubs who don't know where they are going.

Just try being more specific with your rines over the mic. Remember to use names and be very precise with your orders.

By speaking of selecting marines and so on. I somehow can't make more than 1 squad, after selecting 2 marines and thus creating the first squad I'm no longer able to create the second, third, fourth or fifth squad.

    Am I doing something wrong?
