Recruiting In #ns Topic

I noticed in the gamesurge #ns they seem to hate everyone whos a clan member and won't let us advertise to recruit, but in the quakenet #ns they put clans that are recruiting in the topic to help them. Shouldn't the gamesurge one do this or atleast allow people to advertise to recruit?

Besides the absurd reasoning ("they hate clans! because we can't use the topic to advertise!"), I'd say the QuakeNet channel is a community channel, while the GameSurge one is the... official one. It's kind of logic clans recruitment has nothing to do in the topic in there. Plus, the official channel concerns many more persons than the QuakeNet one that just has euro clans.
And on GameSurge there is #findnsclan, so people looking for clan just go there and ask here, there's no use in telling #ns in which ~99% won't care about a recruitment spam. So, let's keep the channel clean from it. You're not on QuakeNet where the /amsg command is used for anything. :p

    Uh... no.

The quakenet #naturalselection is in no way related to the gamesurge version. Putting clan recruitment messages in the topic is out of the question. A link to a clan recruitment channel might be passable, provided it isn't #nubscomeheretofindclan or something equally lenthy.

So official channels can't support the community now?

I'm banned permanently from #naturalselection for advertising for a 3v3 co scrim.

IMO new people should be running the channel, not old, burnt out players.

The guys you have in there now are excellent for introducing people into the community, by banning those who advertise and try to recruit. /endsarcasm

Just to note, #findnsclan hasn't been active for the past few months with JoJo not being around to run the clan 'bot' <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

#NS use to be the official Natural Selection channel, but now I don't view it as is. In fact, I look at the ops list, the voice list, it looks more like the Lunixmonster Server Regulars channel. Compare the server admins and regulars on LM to the #ns channel and you'll have quite the coincidence. Just my view and my opinion.

Clan recruitment or any help with the competitive community in any way will never be tolerated in the #ns channel. If you are a competitive player and voice your opinion that is different than the ops, you get banned and you're 'no longer invited to come back since you're not well liked'. I'm pretty sure some of the ops even voiced that they hope that competitive part of NS dies, not surprised they'd stay stuff like that though.

#ns in my opinion is one of the big contributing factors to why this community is in such a bad state. I don't really blame the pubbers, it's those they look up to that sets a really bad example. Too bad nothing will be done about it since it's pretty much an anti-clanner clique.

crisano you stole the words out of my mouth.. I remember back in the 1.x/2.x days I didn't have to think twice about joining the NS channel on gamesnet(back in the day).. it just wasn't worth it as an active participant in competitive play.

Good i hate people who spam matches that nobody will watch.

As for advertising in #ns, no. Its annoying, and if people want a clan they will come to you or on this forum. Leave it be.

Because we're clanners, and anything that is associated to us is evil, must be hated, and annoying.

Maybe if we could let more people watch a ns match more people would play and it would help the community. You say we spam but when we do have matches people say the hltv once and thats about it. Its not like we spam channel names or anything, or offend anyone.

The ops and others in there talk about all kinds of **** all the time having nothing to do with ns. However you have to keep in mind it is a dictatorship, If you talk about anything they don't like say bye bye. Add this in with them being **** and hating competitive ns and = lose.

Sorry for the few of you that actually made relevant comments, but this thread has exceeded the allowed amount of pointless whining based on complete lies. If you want to petition a reasonable change to the IRC rules that could benefit the community, talk to Nemesis Zero. If you want to just complain and play the part of a martyr, don't waste his time.

To set the record straight, several of the IRC ops have played in NS clans at one time or another, and some of them still do.
