Marines Ability To Shoot Moving Targets

PooPoo Join Date: 2002-11-15 Member: 8686Members
<div class="IPBDescription">Problem?</div> I was in a server today and a lot on our guys (marines) are getting beat bad by the Skulks. They said that the game was uneven and it sucks etc etc..

I noticed that they had TERRIBLE aim! They were shooting teamatesm the floor, the roof anything BUT the Skulk!

I tried to explain about how their aim was terrible (In a diplomatic sort of way), but they didnt understand.

If anyone is haing problems with killing Skulks, maybe its your aim?

    I've never really had a problem.

    Hell, after <i>being</i> a skulk for so long and trying to bite people blindly through their damn mouth, I found taking out skulks with a machinegun to be far easier.

    yeh i have terrible aim sometimes with LMG... generally cause people creep up on me and i get scared shitless and start spraying everywhere...

    And as skulk... the mouth getting in the way is kinda a problem does disorientate me sometimes not much tho... <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

    If a skulk tries to charge in a long hallway, he's dad before he gets to the marines. What to do when you see a skulk and you have full ammo? Fire immediately! THEN aim for him. You have loads of ammo anyway, way more than you need for that skulk, and firing early lets them know you've spotted them and they will try to evade. Which makes them less effective. Half a second later my crosshair (still firing) is on him and then he doesn't last much longer.
    As a marine, back against the wall when covering, don't let them see your back! And watch those ceilings...

    I think the problem everyone has is the same thing I had

    No one realizes the SMG is recoiless and they try to account for the recoil that's not there

    after playing CS and having all guns have a lot of recoil, u just assume these will too, but they don't

    so you end up aiminmg that floor, trying to account for the recoil that doesn't exist but u don't realize it doesn't....

    yet

    sounds like people fresh out of CS. They are so used to having the random chance hitting the enemy head that they havn't learned the skill of aiming yet.

    Well, if you want ACCURACY, use the pistol. I've gotten some sweet midair kills with that thing <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

    the problem is the muzzle blast on the lmg is giant like 2x even the hmg's muzzleblast and it takes a while ot get used to it. i mean a while i still have problmes with it. but i can usually get 3 or 4 skulks befor ei lose my marine. <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::onos::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tiny.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tiny.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&:0--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wow.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wow.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I think some people just have better aim then others. I´m not a good aimer as a marine with an LMG, but i can bite a whole lot of marine behinds as a Skulk. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I'm gonna have to completely disagree with u on that wlibaers...when I'm a marine and I spot a skulk far away I NEVER fire unless I'm SURE I can hit him. The reason I do this is simple: when I play as a skulk, there is ONE really effective strategy, when u spot a marine at the far end of the hall and he unloads on u, don't run away, just HOP and STRAFE and go in circles like CRAZY, chances are he can't kill you because his LMG still has a little randomness to it, and a skulk "intentionally" dodging him makes it even harder. Then after a few seconds of firing I charge up to him and he's completely defenseless with all his bullets gone.

    The brightness of a level has a lot to do with how effectively I can take a skulk down in time. The darker the backdrop is... my brain can't error correct fast enough <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->

    <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> >>> <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='asrifle.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I usually walk down long corridors with my pistol out, especially if I know there aren't going to be any skulks directly above me. That pistol can take down a fully armored skulk in a full clip at any distance when fired relatively accurately. When he get's too close for comfort, I bust out the SpamMG ;p

    If the skulk's point of attack is simply too close, I get owned. Even if I know he's there, it's physically impossible for me to hit him with enough bullets before I'm chomped twice. And that's the way it should be.

    oh yeah... make sure you look up when entering another room.
    always.
    without exception.

    ive gotten a good dozen kills on hiding skulks who were silently waiting for the patrol to pass by.

    when they jump you from behind and you get startled... there goes any accuracy you would have had
