<div class="IPBDescription">Love you NS team</div> I just saw a few post about the anti-script technoligy in the NS mod

THANK YOU a million times over.

The thing that absolutley killed half-life was the freakin scripting pig **obscenity** who bound their weapons to keys and got rid of slot delay etc, I think everyone should be subjected to a slot selection delay, and anyone who says that binds dont give an unfare advantage needs to see people scripting in HL

Wish more people did this keep up the good work

EVEN if someone uses stuff like no bite model, they will be CRUSHED in clan games because in clan games console/models/etc. are locked

    yay for flay!

Thats also good, but it should have been in ALL HL mods including HL itself not just this brilliant pice of work

I agree. One mod that kinda has a problem with that is Science and Industry. People use X-Bow/Shottie combo in the blink of an eye, and it's deadly. You gotta keep up though, so most good people use weapon binds.

Definitely think it's a good idea to keep 'em out of this game though. It's more fun when a skulk is rushing at you, you run outta ammo with your LMG and have to scramble for your pistol. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

Ive been plaing HL since it first came out in fact Some of my clanmates actually beta tested the game 4 years ago. I play HL as [SS]GreyPaws my caln is [SS]=Schutzstaffel we have never used binds or scripts to "keep up" and back when the CLQ actually meant something my whole clan was in the top 10. Binds are an excuse for lazy players, and I hate the fact that gearbox/valve F uked up opposing force by allowing weapon binds in the config menu. There is no Excuse for scripting/binding NONE use the mouse wheel or bind your keys to slots. end of story, if you need binds to keep up you prolly need more practice <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->

Now that I have that out of my system!

I am also fond of scrambling for my pistol when I run out of ammo for the LMG

I've been playing HL & Cs basicly from the days they were released. And i've never used any scripts at all. YOU should play the game NOT some stupid script, it will only make you a forever-newbie. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

Errrmm a lot of the fun in TFC is customizing it to make it how you want it. There are a few contradictory things, but nothing that gives you a major advantage over the others. Half Life was made for scripting, that's what the commands are there for. Personally, I'm only against scripts that do something for you that actually takes skill (i.e. in TFC: rocket jumping, bunnyhopping etc.) I don't see how scripts could be of much use in NS anyways, except for something like a 1 touch r_drawviewmodel 0 thing for skulk maybe. I'll just keep NS the way it was meant to be though, no scripts for meh. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

unless hud_fastswitch 1 is considered scripting, then the whole thing kinda backfires. I have on several occations switch to a weapon and clicked attack only to die instantly.

I dont know about the rest of you but scripting isnt a bad thing... i think ns should allow some scripting like for instance the i% h% m% commands... cause they are just nice and would speed up stuff... like being able to call for health from comm without having to go thru menu's...

look at TFC half the fun in that game came from being able to script... and no offense to the people here but the only people i have met that dont like script's are people who dont know how to or dont know any of the commands... of course there are exploits so i dont mind the ns team taking it out of the game (constant jumping while shooting and annoying stuff like that...) but you can gain a great deal of satisfaction while using scripts... just my 2c tho... <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

I agree, putting in this anti-script thingy is useful, but it's a pain in the niggly bits! me and a friend were playing yesterday, both onos.. we'd do primal scream and then switch to normal attack.. die. I explained to him what happened and how it's a "feature", he got pretty **obscenity** cos he basically saved up and tried to select #1 and died. I have no idea how you could prevent the scripting yet also prevent the bug!

I suppose you might be able to check keyboard states whilst a bind is executed?

i use hud_fastswitch 1 for my weapon changes. i got that from playing CS all the time, but it works pretty well as marine. Its kinda hard to use with aliens though. since every alien has different numbers for different skills
