Natural Selection Is Fraud!

F.R.A.U.D
its an accronym for Free Range All Uber Day. In other words "Good for the soul"
This game is being frowned upon with distasfication by Scientists, Lawyers, People With PHP or PHD's and a few players as well. It is wrong to liscence a game based on science and then copyright it. Naturalselection.com has been established in 1993. It is a company. Isn't it then wrong to register (pending) natural selection for a game when in fact NS is already copyrighted? The pending and #'s are bogus. Fake way of preventing people from using name. I read in a textbook once that if a name that has been registered is now used frequently in English, its registered trademark is then unbound. Theory go Natural Selection is made by Darwin and it shall not be a registered trademark of a computer game?

Actually Ronald, from what I can tell, there are different classifications for copywrites: For example, there are quite a few books named "Natural Selection" and the such, not to mention a few movies. I may be wrong, but I doubt that the US government(or any, for that matter, if I don't understand this at all) is so stupid they wouldn't have classification-based copyrights.

Point is if I wanted to name a game Natural Selection : Romeo + James, i would not be allowed? NS is a common theme so no copyrights should be issued for trademark purposes.

In order for there to be a conflict, there must be a company offering services similar to Natural Selection under the same name. This allows Apple Computers to manufacture computers, and Apple Corps to hold rights to The Beatles music. This is the very reason why Apple Corps sued Apple Computers, because of the addition of iTunes: Apple Computers broke the law by stepping into Apple Corps' field of work, or so the lawsuit says.

Congrats Ronals, you win "Most nonsensical post of the year" award. It's a prestigious honor, even though it doesn't really exist.

I thought Romeo and James would have been a male only romance novel, but that shows what I know.

Oh don't worry there Chimpy, even though Ronald here may have won for '05 so far, the year is still quite young, you can still give me a good race! Cookies!

Sounds pretty lame, I'd rather watch Romero and James, or maybe Jesse and James for a little anime action.

    Welcome to the boards, Ron.

First off, I can see your points. Natural Selection is a very common word, used in all education systems globally, and the subject of thousands of books, zines, websites, and countless other forms of communication. No one has rights to the phrase itself; instead, an individual or company can have rights to the context in which the phrase is used.

In this case, Natural Selection, an ever expanding mod owned by a now official game company, Unknown Worlds Entertainment, has disrupted the website you previously visited, or even were a part of the community that supported it. The owners of Unknown Worlds will tell you that they did not mean to hurt your community, but they did, and that is unfortunate. You certainly have my sympathies to your cause.

I find it very interesting though, that you rail against capitalists and George Bush, and yet I find no point at all to you bringing that up. It was uncalled for and made you look stupid. The internet is a dynamic and ever changing environment; get used to it.

First post on the new site, btw. Nice to be back.

I don't really understand what Ronald's getting at - NaturalSelection.com points to the Unknown Worlds Entertainment website. There is no company there since 1993... it was a default page. Check it out at http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.naturalselection.com . The earliest archiving is 1998 - and Wayback usually starts archiving within the year! So, what gives? If the site at NaturalSelection.com never really existed, and appears to not have been opened in 1993, and is now being used by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, where is there a problem?

There was an internet in 1993?

    Why wasn't I informed?

Someone brought this up recently about Conflict Vietnam? It's an interesting topic, and I'm absolutely certain that there is a definite answer to this question. I don't have it, but I'm was always under the impression that it worked the wasy you guys have mentioned (see Quaunaut, medhead and illuminex).

I'm sure that the NS team and UWE are 100% on the right side of the law in this issue.
