<div class="IPBDescription">Newb Question</div> I played NS a few versions ago, and come back to find it completely awesome. All is well.

The pubby games I went to, noone built turrets.. Are they obsolete now or was my commander just new?

No uses turrets anymore, unless they have to really (i.e. lock down a hive that is going to be attacked a lot or if MS keeps getting attacked [so you don't have to beacon over and over again]).

    What about newly expanded areas?

Used to build turrets to protect a nozzle so they could cap another without worrying about that one as much.

Waste of res, that is and always would have been. Waste of time as well. Games are very fast now - rarely more than 20 minutes if being played properly. Often the "end-game" can take longer, but heh, thats part of the flaw in the idea of faster games.

Turrets are used to lockdown hives, particularly the important "middle" hive. It is often more economical to guard a pg with an electric res nozzle. Depends entirely on the importance of the location though.

yeah, people find it quicker to just electrify guard res nodes or phase gates with turret factories.

I think this will change though, because many people say that they don't use turrets because they have no priority, which by the beta 6 changelog, will be changed.
