<div class="IPBDescription">9800Pro Arctic Coolers</div> I have just bought myself a 9800 Pro and i wan't to upgrade the cooler on it to one with a heat exhaust. I knew that Arctic Cooling make that sort of thing so wen't to the website and found 2 possible coolers, but which is best?
<a href='http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=41' target='_blank'>http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=41</a>
<a href='http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=36' target='_blank'>http://www.arctic-cooling.com/vga2.php?idx=36</a>
I looked around to see if anywhere had reviewed them against each other but there didn't seem to be anywhere and most places had had a look at the first cooler. I'm really looking for cooling performance and airflow from the cooler, which is best?

the second one is the more recent model, and i have one of those on my X800
I'm not too sure about the old one, but i'd expect the newer model to be better

Are you sure you have one of those on your X800 because the mount holes are differently positioned. ATi Silencer 4 is for the X800 series.

And New does not mean better.
Take a look at the heatsink of the first one it has a much wider therefor a larger surface for contact with the flowing air which theoreticaly should cool better.
The Rev. 3 at high setting has a higher RPM therfore a better airflow.

The only thing that might make the newer one better is the copper base of the heatsink on the second one.

I don't even think the second one is the newer one, since the first link is Revision 3.

Just have a look at some overcloaking websites and form benchmarks and make your own decision.

Here are a few on the Rev. 3 Silencer:

I could'nt find any good Silencer 1 reviews.

Other than that excellent choice of cooling company Artic Cooling makes excellent VGA heatsinks.

i have the version for the x800 pro, but all of the newer models are pretty much the same, just suited to each card.

the rev. 3 is the old one, the silencer 1(rev 4) is the new one.

from everything i've seen the rev 4 is better

I found a review earlier today but i couldn't find the link again. Anyway, with the Silener Version 3 on high can cool a loaded card down 4C more than the new version. Although the newer ones are almost silent..
