The poster means what happens if a player leaves the server when he is being devoured. I don't think anything special happens. The Onos is now free to do another devour on another marine.
The onos explodes, in a fiery shower of bacterial gibs and destructive endo-nanites.
No, I don't know what an endo-nanite is. Use your imagination once in a while! <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Leaving the server or using "retry" in console is possible for escaping the onos. In the current release, it is considered a difficult issue to adress. It is not supposed to happen, of course. However, placing limitations on what a person can do while devoured is difficult at best.
Suffice to say, evading death by any means, in any situation, is why we put a delay on "kill". and why using retry to escape the onos is exploiting a game feature.

Heh.. I abuse kill as often as possible.. Rine coming when I'm gorge/egging? *KILL* Slomo onos wanting to digest me when i'm ramboing? *KILL*
I even have it bound <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
x5, how can he do that if it's not his server?
30 seconds is quite harsh though, 5 sec should be enough for it to be unabusable.

Um I guess he can ask nicely.
Still though ideas promoting ways to knife the onos whie being digested, play a minigame, cheat out of it by using kill in console, etc. are <span style='color:red'><b>denied</b></span> ideas. I don't have to repeat why and I think it's in the FAQ.
If we <i>intergrated</i> unstuck with the standard NS source code then we <i>could</i> have it such to where kill was disabled when you were digesting but you'd be able to enjoy a quick 3-5 sec kill command if you weren't. This is a reason for those of you who feel 30 sec is too long to try to lobby for adding unstuck into the source code. You'll have to make a very convincing arguement since it has recently been added to the FAQ. Good luck.

If the onos redeems, you are freed
If the onos dies, you are freed
However, the little bar at the bottom of the screen denotes your hp in real time, get out when the bar is at 50%, and you have 50 hp

The onos regain his speed and is free to devour another poor victim.
