Anyone Play Ns Anymore?

I noticed yesterday and today that i could only find one server with human players. There are a bunch that have anywhere between 4 and 10 bots going (i assume they're bots because they've all been on the server for the exact same time like 34hours 30mins) but that's it. Only ONE server wtih humans.

Am i just logging on during the wrong time?
Or is HL2 to blame?
Or are there never more than that many people playing?

People definately still play ns, around 1,500 people at anyone time if the steampowered stats are to be believed...so a number of things spring to mind

a. you're trying to play an old beta of 3.0 or even of v2.1 that got put onto steam, in which case links to the new beta (full install) can be found via the front page of this site - i'm assuming you do have steam?

b. you've somehow set steam to filter out most servers in your settings, check your filter setting via steam, uncheck everthing then refresh

c. you're behind some sort of firewall/ network which prevents you from pinging servers, my uni connection does this D:

d. some people can't connect to steam at the moment or have trouble doing so due to the bandwidth hoggers downloading hl2 but im certain that this cant be affecting anywhere near the majority of people due to lack of uproar and complaining at steam etc.

I just recently got 56.k back at the casa so now I can actually play ns / be online at my house, instead of chilling on the forums at work / random houses ^__^

oh, check your filter settings, make sure your current, do what the last poster said, and make sure you play at a time when alot of people are playing, the servers get pretty bare when it's 3 AM <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' />

there are more people playing NS than there are playing Starwars BattleFront which just came out a month ago and was heavily advertised. At about 8pm EST NS had ~5x as many players.

Running that most recent version of halflife updated over steam. V3.0 beta 5. Only filtering out password protected servers and servers that are empty.

Bah. Of course when i check NOW, I see lots of servers that have people playing. But at the time i posted that last message I couldn't find them. Hopefully i'll be able to find a decent ns_ server instead of a co_ one this evening. Thanks for the comments. Don't know why I couldn't see everyone before.

I usaully find hitting refresh 3-4 times fixes this.

For your information i still play and i do believe games that cause a lot of hype (eg. Half Life2) will leave a huge gaping hole where these people used to play.

Half-Life 2 + world Of Warcraft are so much more enjoyable than Natural Selection. You developers better bloody bring out ns:s or ill be an unhappy person.

Way to spike a topic.
The devs work their socks off for free; I don't think we're in the position to be making the demands. Personally, after playing CS:S and Hl2 single player I was still interested in playing NS. It's pretty and has some mildy taxing puzzles, but it's still not as tactically enjoyable as commanding caged or ecl. <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' />

The radio interview contains lots of information on the port/rebuid of NS to NS:S. It's a good listen.
