Player model is coming along nicely (thankfully MD is doing it ) and just because there has been a complete lack of updates... hmm... I guess I could announce that my High Poly knife with those pretty animations has been released, you can find it at NSArmsLab.com in the customization section, get it, and go pwn yourself a pwnos with it.... like so:

meh... thought I MIGHT as well give a little update here...
[edit: just wanted to cover some grounds before some nub ran off at the mouth here...]
-The color and darkness is not final, and neither is the actual texture, that is a corrosive layer you are looking at, expect a flatter more plastic looking appearance later... -The blue part of the visor is actually an additive chrome strip, so it will be transparent/see through and shiny in game, which is why it currently has no texture -no, nothing is done yet
I'm not trying to insult your model here, Ice, but I think that the jaw seems a little big in comparison to the cheekbones. It could be the just the angle it's at, though.

Yeah kinda panaka, except what I'm gonna do is make it so that it looks like a bit of the actual glass protruding from the mask itself, to give it more definition than just being textured on like the default, the visor itself will be textured on underneath it, giving it a nicer effect, and I MAY add a pretty little glow effect like that aftwards depending on how well it matches the texture that MD does for us

I would skin it but I have no idea whatsoever how to except I do know what an UVW map is. lol other than that, I'm a complete nothing at skinning. And btw ice, concerning your WAY earlier posts about how bad the default skin looked when it was stretched onto the hp rine it actually didn't look all too bad, it just needed a bit of destretching. And the chin seemed to jut out hella far.
Edit: I would HELP skin it...lol place at beginning of post...
About the little vizor thing, why not look at what is being done on the Nancy model (that 180k poly model that is like something out of half-life 2) If you know what model I'm talking about then you know what the answer is to my question : are you going to make the same thing as nancy's?
Evil_IceJoin Date: 2004-07-09Member: 29827Members, Squad Five Blue
no... I honestly have no clue what you are talking about... the model is pretty much done aside from little tweaks that will be done after the texture is completed, to fix any little irks or glitches, there is no need to remodel anything, especially not in anything near the detail range of the "artwork" nancy model, it was nice and all, but I'm afraid it won't be much more than artwork for HL1, and I strongly suggent some alterations for HL2 even... and that's saying alot considering sheena never said it was for use with any games here... just artwork, leave it at that, I am not an artwork modeller, I am a game modder and I live for efficiency, some of you crack heads will have to learn to live with that and respect it, since we go the extra mile to make your lives easier, and keep your computers living healthier longer lives...
and in responce to many questions about the visor, here is a freaking picture to help explain it: (ignore the fact that this is not MeltDown's texture) notice how it is transparent, and you can see the texture below it, I will change the texture and colors up a bit at a later point in time to make it look better, but for now it's working a placeholder texture, it is additive, and chrome, meaning you can see through it, and it will look shinyish in game

I specifically said I wasn't trying to insult the model. If Ice meant it that way, fine, but I thought he might say "Hey, I didn't notice that", or "Thanks, something looked weird but I couldn't figure out what it was." I also implied that I could be wrong, 'cause I sure don't have the textured model here in front of me.

[edit: and yes, it was just the angle, I've made sure many times his jaw was proportional... you guys never saw it in the production stages... he was lookin prehistoric for a while there]

Don't make me copy and paste my first page of this thread... I am not afraid to go ape **** on people for asking the same questions over and over again...
not to mention as the title page stated, I'm not looking for your opinions, if you don't like it, then don't use it.
Because I am feeling almost generous, except not, I am actually enraged for many reasons unmentioned, I will say it again,
"none of the f'ing textures are done, ESPECIALLY THE CHROME LAYERS"
mentioned the chrome layers were place holder textures like... I dunno at least 3 times...
[edit: and before anyone else comments, a chrome layer is a portion of the model using a 64x64 or smaller bitmap that is applied in the "chrome" fashion so that it moves and looks semi reflective in game, so you can't just make it look like whatever you want, meaning you can't add in lighting or anything else, most of the time you have to play with trial and error to get something that almost looks decent, it is not an easy task because of the way the HL chrome effects work, it uses whatever portion of the 64x64 bitmap it feels like]
Heh heh. Prehistoric... It'd be cool to see the Cro-Magnon TSA Marine Corps .
And yeah, from that other angle, it's easy to see the jaw is in great proportion to the face.

by addative chrome strip you mean that it will make the transparent part look shiny?
You make a better one then.
