I'm not short sighted, I can easily see my mum from here. Mum, is that you...? Uh, nevermind. It was my bookshelf.

You guys need to read the article more closely... People who were already shortsighted and on top of that use computers a lot are more likely to get glaucoma.

Eh, i'm very slightly near-sighted... I only need glasses to see text and such past 10-15 feet or so. Like a blackboard.

    Still.... damn it.

I'm short sighted, and I wear glasses, but I usually take them off when I do any extended computer viewing

besides, I would be down to get some Glaucoma >:D [I live in California, I will say no more, your smart figure it out]

lets see... 12 hours a day within 16 inches of a 17 inch CRT. ive been nearsighted since i was in second grade, and its gotten worse all the time, such that my current prescription is somewhere over 20/1200, (i can read a book with my glasses off within five inches of my eyes, i have to turn my head to read across the page)

and it said smoking/high blood pressure add to the risk, i smoke but have rediculously low blood pressure (almost as if i had a leak, but i attribute it to not believing in stress).

so hey, i'm about due for some glaucoma medecine too! woot.

looks like if you have effective vision correction the myopia is partly compensated for

of course you must still relax your eyes, have appropriate lighting, etc

Yeah it's a shame that a computer screws up your eyes, and that it's pretty much the backbone of our economy now. I especially love my mom's monitor, which at the bottom right boasts "LOW RADIATION!"
