It's official.  Natural Selection is now supported by the Cyberathlete Amateur League!

Thanks to Frank Nuccio for contacting us and supporting us.  We cannot WAIT to see NS played by experienced teams!

You can be in more then one league. CS is in like 412. Very nice job though devs! This mod has gotten Valve's attention and in the CAL before it is out!

how would that work tho? each round takes so long.... and there isn't a "round" like in CS.. so u can't go up to 20 on each team or nything....

and if best of three.. then one team would be alien twice or marine twice... and ppl would say its "unfair"
    even number of rounds dun conclude nything either <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> maybe im missing something here <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

I fully agree, CAL suxors.... They just want to get on the NS dev teams nuts cause they know NS is going to Rule far more than anything CAL can do <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo--> (and Im not just saying that cause CAL ban our clan from FLF for no reson what-so-ever (they had resons, just piddely power-mad childish resons)

UGL will be the Leuge to PWN in <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

CAL will either mean good things for NS, or it'll mean the absolute Corruption of the core of the game(Sorry Othell, but that's what CAL did to CS and RtCW).

If CAL makes it so you can't change your viewmodel to remove the guns(thus killing muzzleflash), or the skulk teeth.(It happened in RtCW, everyone tweaked that game to hell... I was one of them; I did it because everyone else did, Right now I play NS stock because it adds to the game).

Honest and respectful. Nothing wrong with your opinion.

I won't corrupt it though... or at least I will not do anything with that intent. That is why I actually follow (as in track/watch/read) the opinions of the developers. Take chamber stacking as an example. During the planning stages of CAL-NS I was going to not allow it (not because I had a problem with it, but more because it just didn't seem to make much sense from an NS-feel perspective), but Flayra said he had no problems with it... So I totally reversed my plans and now it will be allowed. I'm doing my best to keep in some type of contact with the developing team, maybe not myself personally, but through one of my admins.

My background is not CS (which is something I get the feeling may be a blessing for this endeavor), but is actually TFC. A mod that is quite heavily customized, but not nearly as complex balance wise as NS. I actually play with practically default configs, but I also understand (and have used at times) and sympathize with the need/want to use the scripting abilities of the HL engine. Aside from that, my background gives me alot of experience with the validity of certain exploits. Within TFC, conc jumping, rocket jumping, pipe jumping, bunnyhopping, ramp sliding are all acceptable expoits (to name a few), but such things as nail/mirv in the ceiling or the spec hack exploits are not because they go against the nature of the game. With NS, I can understand the same ideas, with the stacking of chambers legal, but exploiting thin textures is not.

I believe I have a good feal for what the nature of NS is and should be, but that is definately not absolute. That is why I'll do my best to always listen to those that play within my league... as well as the developers (I just sent an email off to Flayra this morning tbh).

Although I may not clan at the moment, I do pub... quite often (some would say too often). So I have a vested interest in ensuring that no corruption will take place.

If anyone has a problem with something, they can bring it to me. I'm an IRC **** as well as a complete geek. I'm constantly connected to my email or revising ideas on my PDA.

I just ask that people actually give CAL-NS a chance instead of making wild accusations or assumptions based on their previous experiences.

I was reading through the posts on the CAL forums for NS, they were talking about something that was more of an exploit than basic tower stacking.

They were talking about building towers inside of each other(Essentially the same thing as building a tower in the floor or the wall)

Yes, and that's what I'll probably rule it as tbh. Before things startup I'll post an official word on it.

It would be a giant leap in the wrong direction to make CAL start a week after 2.0 comes out.

Give some of the non-PT clans a chance to get used to everything first before you throw us to the wolves.
