Well, now I'm even more **** that it lags whenever I turn (...you know, around a corner, or just...around). I don't get it because I meet all the minimum requirements and am above on the processor.
In fact, I can run Max Payne to at 1080x960 with some fairly high settings; I can run CS:S with medium settings - but HL2 lags even when I have all low settings...
I can only imagine how fun it would be without "Gordon pull-pull-pull-pull-pull that lev-lev-lev-lev-lever over there-ere-ere."
[hell, the wall textures look worse than HL on low settings and the game still lags: someone help me <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> ]
Restart. Defragment HDD (Try using diskkeeper.) Shut down everything in the background. Oh and clear your disk. If your low on diskspace (like 100mb) than it starts to lag too. Install new drivers.

I just wanted it to end so I could get back to blasting Combines. It got a lot more fun when you could do more to fight back than just run them over in the airboat though.
Just got the grav gun thouhg, and all is forgiven. Also, it might be that I keep blowing myself to low health with barrels, but Ravenholm is creepier than Doom 3 to me. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Not to mention the fact that most of the zombies you kill, their crab pops off and attacks you. Not to mention the poisonious crabs, and then of course the really fast attacking ones... Yeah, it is more spooky then doom 3 because you don't know what is coming...
Ravenholm scared me to death, I kept thinking "God... when is this section going to end? I can't take much more of this..."
Doom 3 on the other hand simply made me jump when something sudden happened and the thing "Feh..."
It feels similar to when I first played resident evil and the Hunters appeared, many years ago... the playstation got switched off fairly sharpish <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Luckily I'm finally past Ravenholm, more HL style action and less freaking out, woo.

All these thread titles, tempting me to view their magnificent screenshots or stories of conquest. But I shan't. I havnt read a single review, watched a single trailer, or seen a screenshot that wasn't totally disconnected to the actual game. I will have a pristine HL2 experience!
Doom 3 is scary when you play with the lights off during the night. And your cat is crawling around your bed. It should be scary all the time, without the need for outside elements.

I'm on the airboat sequence now, because I had to work and all..
