<div class="IPBDescription">"You have not Steam installed" message</div> I want to play latest Natural Selection on Lan with my friends, because both: I and my friends doesnt have Internet. When i want to install NS the message "It seems that your computer has no Steam installed" appears. So how can i install Steam, if i have no Internet. Maybe you guys know some way to overcome this ****in' message

    Unfortunately, every version of Natural-Selection since the late 2.0s has been compatible with Steam. Now, they are exclusively so. Valve converted their networks from WON over to Steam so that you cannot play online with WON anymore. So, the answer in short is that you have to install steam first: <a href='http://www.steampowered.com/' target='_blank'>SteamPowered.com</a>

    Once Steam is installed (yes, you must be connected to the Internet) then you can install NS and start Steam in Offline mode. That way, you can enjoy NS without being online. You would probably want to do a forum search for bots so that you can play by yourself.

    I also have 2 more questions.

    1) How to switch Steam to offline mode ?
    2) If I copy installed NS to another hacked HL (1.1.2.0 w/o Steam) just like any other mod will it work (simple copy w/o installation and then choose the game through "Change game")

    1. If Steam doesn't detect an Internet connection, it should give you a box asking if you want to start it in offline mode.
    2. I don't think its a good idea to post questions or information about hacked versions of HL. To play NS, you need a working HL cdkey that you put into an installation of Steam. By asking if a hacked version will work, you are looking to have your thread locked or your forum account banned.

    2.: possible ... even without a hacked version. just use your old hl installation (that you hopefully kept <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) and copy the ns (or nsp) folder from your steam dir to the old hl dir.

    only thing that didnt work when we used it at a lan where those chat messages.
