Girls In The Ns Community

Lt.RealnessLt.Realness Join Date: 2004-03-17 Member: 27379Members

be serious and keep it clean!
We've had this coversation a few days ago but it took place in a topic I opened which wasn't about this theme.

Please don't post degrading or sexism comments against women/girls!
I don't wanna have this topic becoming locked because a bunch of idiots spamed it with their stupid comments just to get more posts. If there are some of those comments I hope an admin will delete their post after I reported it to him.

This topic is also concerned with the following questions:

- What do you personally think about girls, plain' NS?

- Do you know girls who're plain' NS?

- Do you think it's good to include girls in mixed clans?

- Do you think the NS community is open for girls?

- Do you think the NS community should become more open for girls in the future?

- What do you think about the idea the developers creating female models for NS2?

feel free to discuss SERIOUSLY and on a normal level! If you are intollerant and think about of posting, don't do it and keep it in your mind!

I think that girls should have a chance to fit into the community. The bad thing is that the NS community is not very open for girls. I actually know 3 girls plain' NS. two of 'em are in my clan and they are quite good. One of them is the most important person in my life. I met her on the 2nd day I started plain' NS and we've had a sympathy for each other since the first moment =) Today she's one of the important reasons why I do play NS. If you read this Jasmine "I LOVE YOU" =) *sry dudes hehe*

Something I think they should avoid are female only clans. Mixed teams are even better.

The community should be more open for girls like the Counter-Strike community. I do also support the idea of having female models in some of the future versions.

Zunni said this here about the idea of female models in the post in the ideas and suggestions forum:
So this is doing it's job. No need for a poll, no need to fill up a page of "If only a developer would read this". This is not something that will be implemented for B6, but perhaps can be looked at after that release.. The fact that it's here and not locked means that it has some potential..So just relax about it...

That sounds a bit promisingly for me. What do you think about it?

I wanna make myself clear again here: Please obey the rules of this topic!
thank you very much =)

I thought that clan already existed, but was so large and unorganized, no tag could be used

In order to answer all your questions, I will give you a status report.

We have a girl in our clan, and we are always very open to her. I think its fun to have her around, and not to mention she sounds like a child but shes actually 19 years old, just a soft voice. Her boyfriend, Frozen Gekko, got her to join the NS community, and now her name is Frozen Butterfly. (Or Lavana)

My attitude about these things is that, if we had true equality, we wouldn't even have to ask. It should by rights be a non-issue.

Id have to agree with everyone about this topic, its pretty pointless.
When it comes to gaming, all I care about is the game. if its a girl im killing or getting killed by. I realy don't care. The only major diffrence between a girl and a guy playing is in voice chat where her voice is higher.
In games your eather the shooter or the shooty. and thats that

    - What do you personally think about girls, plain' NS?

They can play if they want

    - Do you know girls who're plain' NS?

Yes. Chrysalis was in the same clan with me.

    - Do you think it's good to include girls in mixed clans?

Um..sure? They can be just as good as guys.

    - Do you think the NS community is open for girls?

Yes. Unless the entire NS community is full of very lonely men who try to hit on them.

    - Do you think the NS community should become more open for girls in the future?

Why is it not open now?

    - What do you think about the idea the developers creating female models for NS2?

    Sure? Why not?

The most obvious way to "be open" would be to let them play just like men without having to tell "there are girls! integrate them!". At least you agree that female-only teams are bad.

I don't give a damn about them one way or the other. Like with anyone, I get annoyed at an overusage of korean smilies, lack of vowels, etc. Most of the e-chicks I know manage to refrain from this, and if they hadn't told me themselves they were girls I wouldn't know (Well, beyond certain topics which would obviously give away gender, or voicecomm). The ones that go out of their way to make it evident (and their shtick) annoy the hell out of me, and I pretty much try and ignore them.

No real reason why the NS community (all aspects) wouldn't be open for women just as much as men, and I've yet to really see otherwise.

I agree with what milk said although the girl gammers who I know personally are different. I'll add that girls in clans typically mean they will last longer.

    ~edit~

    Reply to Ness:

Hey punk the oldest of my little sisters is Korean! And futhermore she is on this forum too.

    - What do you personally think about girls, plain' NS?

I think they should go back into the kitchen and make me a waffle.

    - Do you know girls who're plain' NS?

Yes, I tell them to stop.

    - Do you think it's good to include girls in mixed clans?

No, the pressure introduced on women in competative play is to much for them to handle, hince why we see rising suicide rates around the world.

    - Do you think the NS community is open for girls?

Yes I do. But I plan to change that with the new BUS.

    - Do you think the NS community should become more open for girls in the future?

This question not only is swaying people to answer differently in the previous question, but also makes me think the writer is (sexist?).

    - What do you think about the idea the developers creating female models for NS2?

BY GOD! Female models in ns?! WHAT IS THIS A GAME OF PORN?! If I wanted to download free porn I would.... well lets just stop right there!

    /sarcasm is fun

Seriously though, the fact this topic is even being talked about is really sad.... This is NOT AN ISSUE IN ONLINE PLAY.

The reaction given is due to the fact this thread has no real content. There is no reason to discuss this. Its like a big disscussion about scorpions that hover without flapping... ITS USELESS AND TAKES UP SPACE.

    The topic is indeed pointless.

A girl can compete as good as any guy in gaming... It's just socially not the same.

I suspect that most girls that play NS keep themselves to themselves, because in any online game the moment a female voice is heard half the players on the server are like 'omgomg asl asl asl omgomg'

But pretty much that is always going to happen because society teaches that guys are the chaser and women are the chas'ies. Thus when you get on a server and by voice letting know what gender you are. Im sure you experiance guys "hitting" on you.

and untill society changes dramaticly. its not gonna change. but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try to.

I don't mind all girl clans as long as they are not being feminist hard **** on their server... when that happens I test to see how fast the admin is at banning by changing my name to "barefoot and pregnant"

Girls in games are fine, the more players the better. Plus, you hardly ever know it is a girl anyway. Sometimes I don't even know my sister is playing on the same server until she yells at me over vent for killing her.
  • SkySky Join Date: 2004-04-23 Member: 28131Members
I'm gonna have to go with the "Why is this posted?" group. Are we ferreting out girls now? Any particular reason why anyone should care? I believe it was Nemo who said, "This is the Internet. Gender is optional."
  • KeyserKeyser Join Date: 2003-02-15 Member: 13591Members
If you are a girl and you make it known that you are female for special attention, then you will probably be (and should) treated unfairly.

If a girl doesn't go out of her way to make in known that she is in fact female, then I guarantee she will be treated equally no matter what her voice sounds like.

I think starting a topic about sexism is pointless.

The short version is, 'why was this topic even created', for most of the replies.

That there should tell you that the NS community doesn't particularly care what gender you are. That it's just... open to people. Beyond this summation, this thread will just draw spam. And so to put THAT to an end...
