The title says it all, the new ATi XPRESS 200 Series Integrated Chipsets have been released.

Sounds pretty cool to me, but graphics cards will probably still own it up on the long run. Good for the Sims or RollerCoaster Tycoon player I guess...

Fastest PCI Express chipset for AMD platforms

ATI introduces the first PCI Express platform solution supporting 64-bit AMD processors. Built for the complete range of AMD Athlon™ 64, AMD Athlon 64 FX, and AMD Sempron™ processors, RADEON® XPRESS 200P delivers the ultimate PC platform for home and business computing. Designed in a unique chipset architecture this technology provides the best balance between value and performance for any comparable solution in the industry.

Performance Solution for Everyday Computing and Home Entertainment
Today’s media-rich applications require PC solutions with robust processing power. As users increasingly create and edit digital content on their PCs, they need systems that can seamlessly manage large amounts of data. RADEON® XPRESS 200P is designed to fully meet the increased system bandwidth requirements placed on today’s PCs and is optimized to work with the latest PCI Express graphics cards. The RADEON® XPRESS 200P offers best-of class performance for networking and storage in a chipset architecture. It offers performance that can effortlessly scale from everyday multimedia applications to high-definition 3D gaming. You can add any ATI RADEON® PCI Express graphics card to customize your system to fit your performance needs.

Universal Connectivity
The chipset platform offers universal connectivity with popular peripheral devices using USB 2.0, digital cameras, CD drives, DVD burners, scanners, printers and more, to turn your PC into a communications hub. It allows system integrators to configure system performance to meet customers’ needs for maximum power by adding ATI’s high-performance discrete RADEON® graphics cards and broad line of multimedia solutions. Whether you are interested in 3D gaming or outstanding home entertainment, you can push the RADEON® XPRESS 200P to maximum performance with additional graphics processors.

Secure and Dependable Platform
ATI RADEON® XPRESS 200P helps to guard your data with AMD Enhanced Virus Protection for Microsoft® Windows® XP SP2, with protection against buffer overflow virus attacks. You can enjoy your system with confidence with ATI’s VPU RECOVER™ technology that adds stability by reducing system crashes and reboots and improving data recovery to keep you focused on your work and game play.

The platform also supports RAID technology for extra protection. RAID can be used to mirror all the hard disk content to protect data from catastrophic damage and provides “auto rebuild” capability for data recovery.

Optimum Value for Future-Proof Performance
ATI RADEON XPRESS 200P is built for 64-bit computing to enable users with seamless transition from today’s 32-bit applications to tomorrow’s 64-bit applications. This next-generation architecture offers innovative technologies for networking, storage, security, and system performance and upgradeability to future operating system and applications to protect your technology investment over the long term. RADEON XPRESS 200P uses AMD Cool‘n’Quiet™ technology that can effectively lower the power consumption and enable a quieter-running system while delivering performance on demand to conserve power. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I just cant get excited about inbuilt chips, given that I'll never by integrated stuff so long as I live. If you cant take it out and upgrade it, it doesnt get into "the precious".

Eh, you gotta wait a little longer. Give it a couple more posts maybe about 10 or so. I won't say anything but, ATi is great for the fact that they create competition in the market, therefore dropping NVidia's prices. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

That's not what you should be focusing on, the Chipset is what is important giving competition to SiS, VIA and nVidia. Therefor lowering prices of AMD K8 Motherboards with PCI-Express. The better your chipset is the better your computer will perform overall. Saying this is not an important development is really stupid, if this Chipset offers better features (Overclocking namely) then their competitors this is better overall for the hardware market.

Af far as the integrated graphics are concerned it is for non-gamer PC or for triple Monitor Support with the Integrated graphics working in parrallel with an ATi videocard with a DVI+VGA or Dual DVI port. They are targeting the developer market with the triple monitor support to compete with Matrox and their Parahelia card.
