    Vet program was abandoned and the icons are supposed to be removed soon enough. As well, for the playtester status.. I'ld say just do alot for the NS community and hope you get a shot.     Vet program is defunct. There were multiple issues, the entire thing was a nice idea, but the implementation really sucked. If you and 5 friends wanted to be in, you could. This led to a whole bunch of people who didn't care about the game gaining vet status, which (this is where I get shaky) led to people just not showing up for testing when they were supposed to, or not really caring during testing.

    As for playtesters.....I think there was a topic about what they would look for IF they wanted more, but suffice it to say they'll only pick people they actually have known for a while. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    It sure would be nice to have one of those vet icons, they look so cool, but it seems to me that the vet system should have gone off of if a clan played a whole cal season or something like that

    Vet program was terminated some months ago, and when the new site comes online the icon will dissapear as well. PT is earned by showing you are dedicated, interested, and capable of helping work on NS in a specific role. Make a good impression and be helpful and you might be noticed by the right people. Severe attitudes don't help you, but strong opinions backed by evidence do.

    I wouldn't. The vet icon means nothing, most actual vets turn it off or have had it removed already, and never mention it at all. The only people that WANT the icon simply want to show it off like it actually means something.

    If you think about it, it's just a cluster of colored pixels (256 to be exact) that happens to resemble something vaguely like a medal of some sort.

    THIS IS OPINION OF SM5 AND DOES NOT REFLECT THE VIEWS OF... WELL ANYTHING

    Clan tags mean WAY more than a vet icon. Some not so tallented players had vet icons[ME] and really they don't mean anything when 70%[OBVIOUSLY INFLATED] of players have them. They were a reward for the tippy top players back in the day. Now its more of an afterthought. if you REALLY want an icon, join the constelation, a VERY worthy use of a few bucks. I know though personally I respect a player, FAR more than an icon, although icons do make you unique, and fluffy... and whatever else.

    Oh and smurfing and AUTH have become the cool thing to do for the old school vets anyway.

    But seriously, the program was shut down because it just fell apart once it was opened to everybody. The icon means nothing these days (aside from the assumed "OMG VET SCRIPTS AND COCKINESS"). I know many people with vet icons that I would not trust to watch my back. ^_^

    Generalising vets has become somewhat common on these forums, and should be treated with care. As with any group, it contains good and bad apples.

    If I were you, I'd concentrate more on enjoying the game than enjoying what icon you have. You'll get much better at playing, and one day you might be in for a nice surprise (it came as a total shock when I was invited to be a playtester).

    Enjoy the game, donate to become constellation, and people who hold NS dear will think much more highly of you than if you have a vet icon <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Yes, if you want the position for the icon, you need to rethink your priorities. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Add in the (sometimes justly, sometimes not) treatment you can potentially get from other players, and the icon really is a double edged sword.

    EDIT : As someone said, if you really feel you <b>must</b> have an icon, do the whole community a favour and donate to the Constellation program. Yeah, you'll be doing it for the wrong reasons to mainstream thinking, but either way you get what you want, and development becomes that tiny bit easier. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
