So you can have a heart wrenching decision about HL2 vs WoW and what to become addicted to?
Haha, I guess that's a way to see it. But I anticipate an expansion or two for WoW first. And Blizzard can't be rushed. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Of course, I still wish I could try it out before buying it... damn. Too bad it looks so damn orgasmic.
First HL2, next week halo2, then wow too.

The Stress Test should go <i>real</i> open beta soon, soo...
Can't forget the DS or metroid prime 2 either.
Hocked my GameCube for store credit at EB and pre-ordered WoW. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Oh and its $156 a year not 26. $13*12 mo = $156. That's basically a standard price for most MMORPGS. They should make it so that you only have to buy the CD to play....but that's just me.
where did you get that price from? its 13.99 a month but 12.99 on the 6 month plan
and friend rice i understand what your saying but thats just how mmorpgs work you pay for them to run the servers and run tech support and constantly add new content
I once invested so much time into this game that an NS clan called O|Ne introduced to me called Biosfear. It was my very first MMORPG and i became very hooked on it (I got my char to lvl 53 in 4 days). Unfortunately, they were closing the beta and announcing that the game was P2P. So then all that time i spent making the char went down the drain since i didn't really want to pay $14 a month.
Actually come to think of it, that price for wc3 isn't too bad when you calculate how much it is per day ($0.43). But still...i refuse to give in esp since there'll be days where i won't be able to dedicate time to playing (midterms and finals). Those will be the days my $0.43 goes to waste.

Ah, read it wrong. I thought it said $12.99 (total) for 6 months. Should have know it would be too good to be true.
How would you say they should pay to keep the servers up without having a monthly fee? Now being inflammatory here, I'm honestly curious what plan people have to keep up as many servers as will be needed. CD sales alone will cover a year, tops.
The fee isn't really bank-breaking, either. For the price of a movie and a popcorn, you've got many hours of entertainment all month long.
Unless you count the game, it should be around 180, depending if they have a free month on the initial copy. Also there are discounts for buying bulk, which further lowers the cost.
I imagine "gold" in this case means "(nearly) bug-free and feature-complete."
Feature-complete: all gameplay mechanics planned for launch are implemented
Content-complete: all in-game content is present. Obviously, no MMO is ever content-complete, as new content is constantly being added.
Given the fact that Guild Wars isn't a true MMO, and that without spending more money on expansion packs, you won't be seeing any new content, I think WoW wins somehow.
Yeah. Especially when the company is paying several hundred thousand a year per server.
BTW: WoW is owning my shorts. FINALLY, QUEST RELATED LEVELING DONE RIGHT! And none of that pansy "lets teleport you all over" BS. <3
That's according to amazon -.-

Is it fun traveling from area to area? I always loathed that about mmo's. If it looks nice and is really enjoyable, that might take down one of the barriers to my getting this game.

Yeah Guild-Wars is not a Real MMO. You can only have a certain no. of players in a quest. For example, on the PVP server in WoW, you wont have a limit to the number of players attacking/defending a town, and a group new players could pop in at any time to turn the tide of the battle.
I was talking with a friend about how they'll probably just make a World of Starcraft... I'd soo be a Zergling.
Yeah that's one of the things I loved about WoW. You never had to search all over for the right spot to level after you outgrew your current area. The game just lead you right to the best spot for you via quests.
The game truly felt finished from my aspct in the stress test (although a lot has changed) as long as you didnt make it to some of the unfinished areas (like me). And its been a long time since then.. *creams his pance* ..this is going to be amazing.
It's the INTRO MOVIE to WoW...
Damn.
Gotta change my ponce...
