Maths Thingy
<div class="IPBDescription">Have fun, you clever people</div> There's these three guys, right? They each have ten quid. That makes thirty quid in total, right? So they think, let's buy a cheap T.V. with this thirty quid. So they goes down to their local-cheap-T.V.-shop, and they buy a cheap T.V. for thirty quid.
The shopkeeper suddenly remembers that the cheap T.V. is on special offer, and theres a fiver off - making it an even cheaper T.V. then it already is! The shopkeeper rushes out after the guys to give them their five pounds. Then he thinks, "Hmm, you know I reckon I'll pocket two quid for myself, and then give them the remaining three quid."
So he catches them up, gives them a quid each and pockets the remaining two. Bargain.
Let's see now. They each paid ten pounds originally, and each got a pound back. Therefore they each paid nine pounds for the T.V., right?
3x9 = 27
The shopkeeper kept two quid for himself;
(3x9)+2 = 29.
That's twenty-nine quid peeps. Twenty-nine. They started with thirty quid....!

Heard it at school today, ah well. Don't click the evil link!
Shop keep gives each back $1 = $3 total then pockets $2. so the 2 bucks he pocketed + the $3 total given back = $5. Add the $5 to the $25 of the discounted t.v. = $30 which they initially payed.
God, I have no life.
Well done though. Took me a while to work out actually.

yeah, the confusion comes in when you take the 27 and add the 2 skimmed off the top.
it's sposta be 27-2=25 instead of 27+2=29... because the shopkeep took away 2 dollars they were supposed to get back...
Join the club, but isn't it awesome?
What's a quid?
That's right. It's like the Americans calling dollars "bucks".
first read-knew sumtin was iffy before finishing
second read of last part- found the mistake and corrected it easily.
I vaguely remember doing a problem similar to this but with different numbers maybe I think. So I was reminded of the type of question but not neccessarrilly(too many dbl letters) this one. Yay for me. Do I get a cookie? (I'm kinda hungry now after watchin some of the elections).
There's a logical problem which I will not bother to explain
I did it easily as a child, and I remember the situation. I hope that my adult brain can still figure these anew ..
