Will I Never Not Suck?

Help a guy out...
Ok... I have yet to play Marines but as an Alien, I truly, for reals, suck. I can never seem to aim (damn crouching marines and their wacky hitbox) I always get lost and I tend to screw up Fades and Ohnos getting pummeled almost instantly.

Any intermediate tips from the brilliance of the board? Or better yet, are there clans out there that take well-meaning and courageous recruits who just need a little assistance?

Yeah, I sound like a nasty, vicious alien don't I?

Hey man read the manual.......it helps alot. You understand the game alot better. Read the WHOLE manual. Marines and Aliens are alot different and you need to be able to play every position in the game.

Also if you want to play together sometime look for me.....MazimuZ.

Well, my advice would be to play as marines. They are definately the easier of the two sides to learn with, seeing as you've got a guy in the sky that tells you what to do. Cant find you way around the map? Just ask commander for a waypoint, and keep running towards it, you'll get there eventually. Or just follow someone, become their shadow. Chances are they know the map better than you do. Dont know what to do? Just ask commander for some orders, if hes competent you'll get them in no time and you'll be off doing something useful for the team.

**Dont ask for weapons/armor. Just ask for orders, and do them. Stick at your last waypoint unless told to move.**

Now, if you've got something against marines, heres some tips if you wanna stick to being alien (as i did in the beginning).

If, as a skulk, you're having trouble with ankle-biting, try this: Run towards the guy, chomping away. Once you hit him/miss, KEEP RUNNING right past him by about 5-10ft. Turn around, repeat. Gives you more time to find your target.

Dont worry about getting lost, just keep running towards the red/yellow blobs. The only way to learn the maps is to run all over the place over and over again. If you want to, try playing on the same map repeatedly. That way you can atleats get one map down instead of trying to learn 6? at the same time.

Not to contridict but I read the whole manual but it helped none. That's me though, it may help others. Anyway though, I suck as an alien, no matter how many times I bite someone I can never kill him. Also I lose track of my targets on both sides, with aliens I move so fast I can't see. With Marines they move so fast I can't track them, I am confused as to where they go. Simply though for the marines, don't stop firing when you see a target. With aliens keeps strafing and running around in the target general direction biting while you do. It works for me, until I can find a better way of playing the marines.....I think my mouse speed may be a little high...

Download that bot and play each map as commander. It will give you a good idea of how to get places fast. It's essential as an attacking alien to know the map so you can get to hotspots quickly. If you are a gorge you also need to know the chokespots because you want to defend those, not necessarily the hive or resource node.

Try playing as a marine first.

You'll be more familair with the style of gameplay, assuming you've played a FPS before. Once your comfortable with marines, go alien.

You'll probably do better then you do now as you'll know the maps and generally be more at ease with the game. Also, don't worry about not getting kills as an alien. You will probably die a lot harassing marines in the early game with skulks. Don't think your not achieveing anything. Try being a marine and watch as the fifth skulk in a row tries to bite your head off and you'll see what I mean

And if your having fun, who cares if u win or lose anyway ?
