<div class="IPBDescription">why?!?!?</div> Why have the NS team removed Free Roaming mode in NS?

    I recently tried V 1.04 of NS and LOVED the free roam mode.

    Maybe they got rid of it because you can float in and out of walls etc? It kinda gets rid of the whole 'your a marine, and are going to be bitten to death' scaryness of the game.

    You can still do it, you just cant use the mouse to look around so its not as good.

    spec_mode 3 in console. (I think, I hardly ever bother to use it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    bind keys to +moveup and +movedown so u at least can freeroam with some more degree without mouse.

    The new spectate system is crap. The old one, while not as flashy looking, gave you a better picture, and also had more spectate options to choose from.

    They need to redo it.

    How are they going to deal with people killing themselves to see what the other team is doing and planning? Is there a way to not render something outside the line of sight of a living ally?

    I was talking about all the options in general in the old spectate, not the freelook itself. I miss free chase, auto director, things that were actually useful when you wanted to spectate someone. Of course freelook wouldnt be enabled, but it would still be there. As well as for the outlay of the new spectate system, while it <i>looks</i> snazzy, it wastes so much space. If you go into freelook mode, and also into mini map mode, the entire bottom left of the screen is black, a perfect area to put scores, or perhaps the first person view mode, so you get it all viewed at once?

    The spectate needed a graphical improvement from the old version, but this defenantly isnt it. The new spectate system wastes too much space and takes away too many spectate opportunitys.

    I can see, however, someone is going to say "theres someone around the corner" because naturally, you can talk while dead, and with free chase cam, it might give the extreame slightest advantage. I can hardly imagine this being used besides the last man being alive, in which that case its actually fun to hear your teammates saying "ONOS AROUND THE CORNER ****EN RUN **** JESUS H CHRIST" instead of absolute silence. If it becomes a problem, disable the talk while dead function, but I doubt that will be nessarry, and perhaps make it enabled once again when the last man is alive.

    There would be no point in removing free look from either classic or combat if it was fixed.

    Just keep it the way it is right now for players who are in teams, marines or aliens (team chase camera), but allow free roaming for players in the spectator team, just like it is for any other mod.

    Spectate system right now wastes too much space. In the minimap/third person or minimap/first person spectate view, I can hardly tell whats going on in the third person or first person tiny **** box in the upper left hand corner. Hell, I cant tell whats going on in the third person chase cam because its locked dead on, and the player is making so many rapid movements, swinging the camera everywhere, the only viable spectate option is the first person view option.

    And there is a point in removing free look if its .. "fixed." (changed) You can speak while dead, so you could suicide, say what the hive is.. etc, etc..

    I'll help you a little bit:

    That means that you are stuck to chase camera on your team when you are "dead" on a team (just like it currently is). Do the difference between being a <i>dead spectator</i> and being a <i>spectator</i>.

    ya I really miss the freelook mode too! Why has it been removed? To avoid telling your mates where the enemy positions are ? I think you can disable it like in other mods. but sure there are differences between the chase cam and the freelook mode and I think I don't have to explain them here because you know what I'm talking about

    The only time i miss freelook is when my whole team is dead and i wanna see the aliens destroying my base instead of staring at the wall....
