Pretty good prank if it's real, but I doubt it.

it is real. My friend went to a recent rally around here, and he put up an Anti-Bush sign and was yelling profanities.

Secret Service were at his house.

Maybe if you had actually read the text we're talking about you would know someone on this Live Journal thing reported him. They are not personally scouring internet forums, they don't have the time or the man power.

Obviously they don't pay people to troll the internet looking for stuff like that. That's the NSA's job, since they have Echelon.

Speaking of Echelon, bomb the White House George Bush John Kerry gun control Christian Coalition terrorist Afghanistan Iraq Al-Qaeda (is that how it's spelled?) Saddam Hussein Israel Palestine Pakistan nuclear warhead. Hello Mr. Echelon Checker! Do you know Sam Fisher?

    LOL

But Echelon isnt only used by the US, Australia suggested that it existed although im pretty confident it does.

Terrorism is the beggining of the end of personal rights tho, just because you rant about something online does not mean it should be followd up maby if there was constant talk of it but one message is a little extreem.

In the UK they cant cantrol most of the problems on the street if they spent that kind of man power checking up on forum post tip offs then I can gurantee there will be some lobbying of MPs, MSPs, councilers and MEPs.

if he was saying anything threatening towards the president then his right to free speech was thrown out the window. Threats make it go from talk to a matter of national security. Im glad the Secret Service is doing their job.

Democracy with 2 parties that have pretty similar policies you have to ask yourself where is the choice?

To become president you need MEGA bucks in order to fund a campain meaning not everyoen can be president.

I hate to say it but the Uk is heading a similar way althoguh the Scottish Parliament is clsoer to a true democracy since it uses Porporsional Representation against regular First Past The Post system.

I was reading through this thread, waiting, just waiting for this to come up.

This is possibly the funniest and saddest thing to ever come out of Bush's mouth.

Unfortunately, I am unaware of the context the quote comes from (I know, shock-horror, an NSF Australian that isn't fully aware of exactly everything that has happened on the US election campaign trail - weirdly rare, ehy?)

    Does anyone know the context?

I'm not saying that the context would justify saying something so fundamentally "unamerican", but I would still like to know.

They have an obligation to follow up on tips, and given the current political climate and mounting tensions on both sides due to the election, I'm sure they are taking no chances.
