For people that liked the original Doom music, Doomworld has both re-recordings and the original .midi files of some of it (Please note that all the re-recordings send you to a qeue at 3D Downloads, but the .MIDIs are direct).
SONGS TO WEAR PANTS TO It has its own thread, but it's so damned cool it still deserves a mention.
You can find actually very good stuff from there. There are no famous musicians and stuff. All some custom jerk music My favorite place.

Normally I hate tehcno music with a passion, but Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time. It's almost like a concept album, you listen to it start to end without ever wanting to skip a song.
It has a built in P2P program and a RSS reader. It's P2P network isn't as extensive as say, KaZaa's but it has all the popular songs and 'One Winged Angel'.
On top of all this, it supports everything IE does, only since it doesn't load active content it's more secure. Which we all care about.
EDITZ: P2P sharing is prefectly legal in Canada, I think the RIAA has you Americans under it's whip. I'm free to use this, don't get yourselves in trouble.
I thought I would resurrect this thread, because it pwns, and I just found this. DJ Pi makes some damn good Trance mixes, a new volume comes out monthly and it's usuallt 2-3 CD's worth per volume.
My music....well the one song i've actually gotten done so far anyways. Its a bit different than most of mainstream sort of stuff, my best friend told me that he didn't think it counted as music, but that it wasn't of low quality. A compliment of sorts.
And if your into noise music check out my other friends' stuff.... The Amputeens Its outstanding stuff. Malt liquor, anger, and failing finals... all of life summed up in beautiful beautiful noise.

This is probably the biggest collection of free music that you are likely to find. Pick any artist with a favorable taping policy, and download tons of their stuff all losslessly encoded. I just got 15 Vienna Teng concerts.
So yea, it's full of music licensed under the Creative Commons license. Most of it's French, but I've still found a lot of good music here. You can listen before you download an album too, it's awesome.
