<div class="IPBDescription">Black on Chrome</div> Well, a friend of mine wanted his pistol to be black and chrome so I gave it a shot, this is the result:

BTW: I'm not claiming this to be cool, fancy, show off, anything... we just liked the colors and thought others might too.

the skin isn't super fabulous, just something quick i did in PS.

the skin originally looked really cartoony... this makes it look much much more cartoony.

i'm sorry if i dont praise people for work that really is not that good. that just doesn't help them at all.
you either saved it wrong to get bad compression or you didn't full desaturate.
notice the difference between them in this comparison. you can clearly see blue and green etc in the original.
Cookies: thx for sticking up for me, but i'm actually decent at PS -- the area I lack most in is grunging.
back to the fact this was a 5 minute job -- like, literally... I spent much more time learning how to covert it to a model (10 minutes) and even more figuring out that 'Chrome' is an HL keyword for its own crappy chrome looking texture. That actually took me a little time to figure out why it looked so crappy, til i figured out that whole keyword time and wondering what i screwed up on.
my goal is to get people around here to do more than just a 5 min. job, and to actually try to drastically improve.

i just wish more people would understand what i'm doin.
Anyway, Like i said in my original post, I just did this for a friend, liked it and used it, and offered it up others to use.
Reguardless, what you are trying to do is good, as I I've seen on many of the better 3D forums (cgtalk, etc) but you should work on your delivery...making it a little....less uppity?
