...and it was the best round ever
So the map was ns_eclipse...and ~"Nexus 6"~ was in command. After building up the essentials in the base a team and myself proceded towards the Eclipse hive. I was followed by aptly skilled marksmen going by the names of ~"TJ"~ and ~"Duffy"~. We came to arms and blew the crap outta the aliens who were building in the hive. We then started constructing the resource tower and the turret factory. Other soldiers went to secure Station Access Alpha and the "Shoe". While others played a vital role in being a distratction. As the game progressed we had 4 resource stations under our influence, Eclipse Hive, the Shoe, Triad Generator, Alpha, and not to mention our own base. We also had set up a secondary base in the Eclipse Hive. It had the command center, 2 spawn points, an armory, a phase gate, and a crap load of turrets and sieges. Nexus 6 had turret placements set up in every concieveable way.
For about 1 hour our defences were inpenetrable. Then we begain to run into trouble...the aliens started grouping together and attacked Eclipse. Although ~"Aqu[A]Fina"~ was calling for back up no one heeded his plea for help. I saw the message and got my **obscenity** there as fast as I can. We defended it for awhile...but then it fell about an hour later. The aliens have taken their last hive...and this was when we put up the hardest fight for our lives. For about 45 minutes we were kicking the crap out of them with our regular weaponry, and some of us were even able to make a break for it towards their Maintainence Hive. Only a select few were able to get there. The commander left the seat seeing that it was futile to build...after all we only had 0 resources and no generators...and he was fighting right beside me giving our final effort to put a dent in the Alien hive. He got killed by a sulk but i managed to hide right near the hive. I shot all my ammo at it, including my pistol, but alas to no avail I was unable to destroy it. With our base destroyed and all our soldiers dead only a few remained. Duffy and I became the last. And my god...we were the last to fight to the death. IT WAS THE FREAKING BEST ROUND I HAVE EVER PLAYED! Everyone worked together, people moved as a team, and the commander kicked **obscenity**.

After a while, we weakened their defenses enough to make a charge for the CC. I died, but not after taking around five marines with me and severely damaging their CC. I respawned and evolved to an Onos, then charged. I died again, quite quickly actually, but while I was waiting to spawn back in I saw another member of my team take the CC out. I quickly turned into a Fade and rushed in, throwing bile bombs like no other, dropping back occasionally to heal, and eventually we cleared their base out, marines and all.
Or had we? Somewhere, a marine was hiding in Eclipse Space Station, taunting us. We spent a few minutes charging madly around, each intent on being the one to end the game. But to no avail; we could not find him. Finally, someone had the bright idea to upgrade Scent of Fear, and saw a yellow blip on the screen. He found the remaining marine lurking in the shadows, and with a pistol vs. an Onos' horn, there wasn't much of a fight.
IMO, losing as a Marine is much more fun than losing as a Kharaa.
Marines:
Kills - 25
Deaths - 15
Aliens:
Kills - 15
Deaths - 25
Ouch. And the worst part of it was that the score was not distributed evenly with one guy having about 14 kills and 23 deaths. Anyhow, when I joined, things were pretty much in disarray, though we did have two hives. The marine team must have been completely incompetent, or the aliens extremely lucky. As soon as I joined, I switched to gorge, as did another person, "Tony". We quickly constructed a new hive and INSANE defenses for the "Mainteance Hive" (we had giant walls of offense/defense/sensory chamber towers). The base was virtually impenetrable (this is the correct spelling for "impenetrable" by the way...). As soon as we had finished constructing these defenses, the marines (all equipped with heavy armour, machineguns, grenade launchers, claymores [i.e. we were MAJOR underdogs]) stormed into another of our hives - the "Eclipse Command Hive", and took out EVERYTHING. Luckily, we were able to muster our forces and push our way back into "Eclipse Command" and retake our hive. 3 hives = onos. Now for about an hour, the marines and aliens duked things out, neither side really gaining the other hand. But then we started using guerilla warfare to slowly whittle away at their defenses. Eventually their defenses amongst their resource collectors were decimated, and we swept in to take the resources for our own. Let me tell you that as a lerk, it is DAMN hard to kill 5 turrets by yourself using just umbra and those spikes (that damnable turret factory was in the back). Anyhow, the marine base was still heavily defended, so we gathered together a group of 3 onoses, and stormed the marine base! Holy crap, the battle was so bloody intense, and I was down to about 80 health (and I'm sure the other onoses had fared just as well) before we finally knocked out their last respawn point. Whew. That battle was intense.
I love how when you're on the aliens, you feel all aggressive, and when you're on the marines side, you feel all scared. Turn up the volume as a marine, and when you hear a skulk pounce you from behind, you'll **obscenity** your pants.
