I'm not here to cry about cheating or to bash anybody. I'm only looking for some type of informed answer other than OMG H4X!!!!1
So here it goes:
Does anyone else notice the kid on marines that's 28-0 and bhopping like mad and only plays when no admins are on the server? Is there something I'm missing? I'm sure he isn't outright "cheating," but surely something fishy is going on. I've heard of scripting and such, and I know that cheating isn't possible in these games, but some of the stuff I've seen man....
Of course I'm not going to get any insightful responses to this, but maybe, just maybe someone might know what's going on.

As for the score and the bunnyhopping, many "top notch" clan players can easily pull off scores like that in a public game. The only way to know if he's hacking is to get a demo of the player and watch him for anything fishy (like stareing through walls, prefire, etc)
oh and its probably a coincidence that the player is on when the admin isnt.

Theres nothing illegal about them in the first place. Each can be achieved without scripts and by a mousewheel.
On the 28-0 thing, pubs are newbie heaven its not hard owning them.

Why would it be ugly? I consider a marine "bunnyhoping" up a ramp or in a vent rather nice than ugly ..
Bhopping is encourage, there is an annoucement of what is and isn't allowed as far as blocking, pistol scripts are highly frowned upon but since any good paintballer like me can rattle off a ~7 shots/sec anyways it can't really be determined who has the skill and who taking it easy, blink-swipe & meta scripts are necessary to be an uber-Fade when playing against experienced players.

A set of instructions that change variables when certain events are done. Scripts are NOT cheats, unless they exploit something in the game that wasn't meant to be. All headshot "scripts" require an edited .dll to run, making them a hack.
Cheat
A cheat is something that gives you an advantage that you normally wouldn't have.
Exploit/Bug
A trick in the game that wasn't meant to be there. An example is the spectator bug in Counter-Strike, making a person have a weapon as a spectator, killing anyone while moving around like a ghost.
Punk

Generally there isn't anything fishy going on. It is their skill annd knowledge of the game and maps that lets them be a one man army.
If you think someone is seriously fishy, spectate him for a few rounds and record demos. Watch the demos in their entirety in 1/4 speed, and if your suspicions don't go away after that, send it to the server admins for review.
Iit's generally just that the player in question is very, very, very, very, very much better then the aliens. ^^
usually normal players dont do this
so if you see a normal player with a ridiculously high score who makes bad decisions id suspect them
but if yous ee a good player who makes good decisions and has a high score as a result from that -- they are probably very experiened in the game

Hell, I've gone 40-5 on several average joe pubs, and I absolutly suck compared to some of the guys I've seen out there.
People who need scripts to fade must be lacking in brain cells.
Only play on safe servers like voogru and servers with mp_blockscripts, that will stop most hackers. We all know how scripts are such hacks and without them those hackers would totally suck along with most "veterans" that probably cheat too.

Generally a wallhack and an aimbot are used together. Best way to find this type of hacker is to look for him tracking enemies through walls. There are aimbots which miss a few shots, so don't count on whether he hits all his shots as well. Definately look for trademarks of skilled players. For example, on marines, a skilled player will jump onto a higher level and then immediately jump again (doing a form of a 2 jump bhop, or even a 3 jump bhop). They will jump around like they're on crack too. As well, an often suspicious move in combat is getting weapons 2 instead of a shotgun... but that's pure speculation and should never be used as proof.
Those are your hackers. The latter are a pain, while the former are easily spotted and easily banned.
Other than that, just assume people are good.

(Basically, they could be in the wrong place at the wrong time)
(as for the paintball comment, same **** goes on there, but only in the top-players/leagues-the guns they use all have cheater chips. Hell, the new matrices even come with them built-in)

Rule #1 of online play : if YOU are not having fun on the current server, find another one. (Maybe not #1 for others, but for me...)
