if you silence on a lerk then it MUST be in combat with like a limitless lvl.
on classic silence for lerk is very idiotic. because you can <b>GLIDE</b>
gliding is silent, excpet for when the lerk randomly roars. thats good enough to take celerity or adren instead of silence.
i like to battle lerk but i dont prefer focus. (unless on combat) i like SoF cause lerks have low health so battle lerks should only fight 1-2 people at a time.
say you hear one guy then you go around the corner and there is ten guys.
Silenced lerks are handy, but whenever i'm a battle lerk, I tend to use either celerity or adrenaline. celerity makes you fly in and out in a snap, and adren is great for sporing the marines.
Well thats the rub... you can go celer, hope you glide in unnoticed, and flap away very quickly when you're spotted. You also become a bite machinegun.
You can go adren, which largely means ventcamping and spam spumbra - certainly the choice of the team player.
Silence means you don't have to worry about your gliding skills, and you are virtually guaranteed 1 bite as long as noone is looking at you. Combine with focus or cloaking and you've got a seriously combat orientated lerk who can easily destroy any small marine patrol.
Either is viable, but I'd imagine personal skill would play a huge part in the final choice. I'd say on better servers you might as well go with celer, as rines will ALWAYS be looking for lerks, as well as listening. Silence won't beat eyes. If you're on a lower skill server then silence will make it all too easy to snafu rines because they'll not have the wit to really look, and will instead march in one direction while hoping their ears can pick you up. Bite bite, dead rines.

could anyone who is battlelerking give me their sensitivity please?
Im <!--emo&::lerk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/lerk.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='lerk.gif' /><!--endemo--> too but i think my sens of 5 is too low.
Other player's sensitivy numbers really mean nothing. It depends on the system too. 20 sensitivy on somebody's system can be similar to 7 on somebody else's.
True true that the sensitivity varies from computer to computer. However, I have mine set at 30 or 35 right now, which for my computer means that my view does a 180 when I move the mouse about 1inch (me thinks)... always too sensitive for my friends. Basically... I never run out of mouse pad or desktop space because the mouse doesn't move much (horray for fat america)
My sense is at 2.1 I think and I can turn 360 with a swift hand turn. So it depends about the mouse and windows settings really. But back to topic...
Support lerk: Regen, Adren, SoF (Adren gives spore and regen gets HP back + SoF allows to spore marines behind the corner) Combat (not co_) lerk: Cara/Regen, Cele, Focus (Carapace in case of shotguns, celerity helps catching marines/escaping and focus with spore = 1 hit kill)
i havnt played much lerk since the last beta but i used to love being a celerity, cara, lerk.
cara: so i could better survive a well placed shotty burst and psycho pistolers.
celertiy: i love the speed and it helps me escape/attack.
this probably isnt the most efficient lerk combo but it would give me quite the rush trying to evade the rines and get to a DC or hive or zoom in for a bite kill.

Was easier in b4, when flapping didn't cost energy.
I propose we rename the Lerk to "Skyskulk." They're just dogs with wings. They don't 'lurk' anymore, they just act like a Skulk with Leap or a Fade with Blink. OH YAWN.
First they weaken you with gas. Then they umbra you so they don't die. Then they fly in, slam into your back and start munching everything in sight, and get out. Yawn. More lazy hit-and-run tactics that profit only the Lerk. I miss the days of 2.01's epic battles where a Lerk would flap around a large hiveroom, nimbly dodging bullets and sporing the area while performing strafing fire with the Spikes. Now, they either ram you and just keep biting like a Skulk (they seem to have a complete lack of knockback, even if the Lerk SLAMS IT'S HEAD INTO THE MARINE, as compared the Skulk's merely BITING INTO FLESH AND TEARING IT AWAY.) or just flap back and forth and take a chunk out of you each pass. It's nothing that a Skulk wouldn't do with Leap, or a Fade with Blink.
Spikes made the Lerk what they were supposed to be. A support unit. They weren't meant for up-close combat. They hung back with the Gorges or actually LURKED in a vent, spiking and gassing. Now they're all too busy acting like Superman and trying to outkill the Onos instead of keeping him alive with Umbra.
Then again, I'm just bitter about the loss of Lerk spikes and (what I perceive as) the ruining of a unique alien class.
I just won it 4 the team with 15 kills as a 2 hive lerk.....umbra pwns those foolish shotty rushes....hmgs....seiges etc..etc. Adrenaline bite was tbh making the fades look pretty dam pathetic.
I also miss the arly days in part that lerks used to be the horror-of-the-vents. By removing bite they were made much more like skulks. For the new lerk i would like to say that i do like bite it allows you to divebomb which is more faster than spiking that tf 5min....

Focus, SoF
Cara, Regen
Adren, Celerity
I've gone 109-15 with these before.
Support Lerk (NS)
Adren
SoF
Regen
Assault Lerk (NS)
Celerity
Focus
Cara

erm....multiple gamers in NS tell me that it helped them improve to 2x or better while aiming.
mouse accel is good for CS but not for NS because NS requires more tracking and twich shot skill. While CS requires Minimal tracking but pression aim.

Glide, and flap a few times when you lose speed. That's the key to succesfull lerking.
^_^
Only problem is each special_ flap uses like 30% energy, so adren is the best upgrade for this lork.
