Varying Game Tactics

<div class="IPBDescription">..make it fun....</div> SO... ive been playing LOTS of NS in the past 3 days, probably over 20 hours worth.... dont even ask me why, im not sure... But i tried some new stuff as commander, and had some surprising results..
BTW: This regards MARINES ONLY
The thing about NS these days (pub scene) its the same thing every time (or very close to) depending on the map..
GENERAL STRAT, IP, ARMORY, OBS, CAP RES, Lockdown double, lockdown hive, tech up, cap res... win or lose depending on whatever...
The only variants might be common relocates, such as caged Generator Relocation, or Eclipse Eclipse Relocation...
Well.. i simply had it the other day, and decided to do totally random stuff on servers, and even though we diddnt win every time, we had so much fun (to the point where people were asking me to comm again simply, in thier words "to make it fun"
Some Things i was trying....
1. NS_Veil: Relocated to hallway outside TOPO, just for kicks and giggles, once i calmed my whining marines down, it turned out to be a very good chokepoint.... From there i proceeded to cap every res but double, and do my traditional dual arms lab rush, (we had 3/3 ups COMPLETED, and ADV armory completed, PHASE TECH, and MT by 7 minutes...(ALso had 5 ip,s... gotta love suicide phase rushing
Thing is, this relocation worked great, partly because, in reality its close to 4 res nodes and a hive (pipeline), BUT, also, no one expected it (aliens), so, it took them a while to adapt..
The outcome to this game however, was a loss after 2 and a half hours (i disconnected twice and had to reboot computer, due to stupid internet...
END RESULT- Flounder recycled base, we probably would ahve lost anyways, but it was a lot of fun for all
2. NS_bast- This game acutally turned out hilarious, again, we lost. I had tried for an engine relocate, but NO one listened, so my whole team was dead, had 80 res, built 3 ip;s at base, alone and we got back going... from there, capped about 4 res nodes (gotta love always havin ur whole team out due to IP's...
Now comes the fun part... got phase tech, and dropped a phase at water treatment, built 3 more ip's...
this was around the 4 minute mark (no upgrades) ordered my marines to keep suicide rushing and get me KILLS...
From here, it was slaughter, but hilarious, we racked up enough kills for me to get my marines evrey upgrade possible by the 10 minute mark, only problem was that we gave them lots of res too...
Then i dropped 120 res worth of GL/HMG.. and ammo packs.. and beaconed... wow that was hilarious.... all phased over again.. rushed hive... it was so funny...
Anyways back tomy story.. this was another 2 hour game taht we ended up losing, but they got 3 hives up, and literally... within 4 minutes (literally) we ninja phae rushed and GOT down.. ALL 3 of thier hives (they rebuilt em, sadly, but it was our crowning accomplishment....
Also got a quote my marines though was funny... for 20 min we pushed refinery... and i was quoted to ahve said "You Guys are so freakin expendable, PHASE"
End Result, LOST... but FUN GAME
NS_Eclipse- dropped 1 ip, one armory, one obs, got mt going... capped 4 res nodes by 2 min mark (i think) from there, made 4 more ip's, got phase tech, and killed hive... "POWER OVERWHELMING"
NS_Tanith, HMG rush... hive was satcomm.. 4 ip, capped double, had team rush to chemical... got pg up in chem, started adv armory... and simply built up res till armory was done, i got out and even phased (no point in being in chair)... at 4:30 min mark i dropped 6HMG 4GL and beaconed... and dropped arms lab.... 2 fades down game over we win...hehehe
NS_Tanith, relocated to external sattelite relay, made 4 ip, satcomm was hive, dropped welder, welded in the side, 2 minute game, no aliens ever saw us, shot hive.. game over... funny as hell..
NS_Nancy, relocated to ship refueling(team thought i was bonkers).. elec RT rushed everything... at 4 min mark started duall arms labbing it.... sieged down both hives with heavy train... at 17 min mark....
Basically.. whole point of this post...
DO STUPID ****... it MAKES THE GAME FUN... doesent matter if we win or lose.... the fact it was FUN is what matters..... all i wanna do is have fun..... doing random, odd, or seemingly STUPID stuff not only throws the aliens off, but allows both sides to have fun...
NO ONE CAN TELL ME 5-9ip phase rushes on hives int fun... its a slaughter for both sides... but its FUNNNNN:)
Catpacks aka "victory drugs" make the game fun....
What do i want to accomplish by this post... PUB COMMS... kick back and tyr and make it fun for you, the marines, and the aliens... im sick of the same god damn thing every game.... vary it up a bit.. evne if it doesent seem logical... in every single example above.. i had to fight EXTREME DISAPPROVAL FROM MY MARINES (except for those who had commed under me before, and told ppl to shut up "cuz it was gonna be fun", but in the end... everyone had fun... well there were a few who hated it... because it "wasnt normal"<b> but seriously... im fed up wtih the linearity, and ive found a way to fix it...</b>
Cant wait till i get a chance to try relocating to the cockpit in Bast.... hehehe

On the other hand, most people want to win. I know commanders who make an IP for almost every rine, there is no spawn que, we die and instantly appear in MS.

And is spending 100res really worth it so you don't have to beacon? Its not like people use beacon that often anyway - only when screwed or when the Comm gets **** and wants to regroup everyone.
When you rush a hive... you have a constant stream of marines.... CONSTANT..... you spawn faster, and the "expendable marine" theory comes into play... its like D-Day..... they just keep coming and coming and coming......

The relocates i did i picked random spots.... literally....
IM sure some of u ppl can come up with some interesting (stupid) strats as commander....
Im open to suggestions bent on making the game FUN.... not just the same thing every time...
I dont care about winning... never have.... but ive won a little over half of the games ive done my "stupid strats" on... so it must be working to some extent...

Definitely takes some voice spamming.... the first few times were the hardest...
Now theres usually some ppl on who know me and tell everyone to "just do what he says and ull get victory drugs"

I was inspired to do this by someone else as well. Random relocates are great, just choose a random point and relocate for the sake of it. The tricky bit is getting your marines to get to the WP but normally if you aren't ejected in the first minute then things will eventually go your way. A mic helps loads!
Funny thing is that 3 times I've been ejected for a 'stupid' relocate and each time we totally owned the aliens from the cunning positions.
Best relocate ever! ns_metal: where the big lift is, you can build the chair above the lift (about 5m in the air) and then build your base in the rafters! We lost because we couldn't hold the rts well enough but it was great fun and totally onos proof!
Also if you are feeling balsy in origin you can relocate on top of the bridge between laser and furnace! Had great fun with that one.

and for a real challenge - upgrade only armor... way crazy games especially if the opposing team is half different
