Sorry if there is already some place/thread where this is discussed.
I just wanted to know how things were going with the modifications and what you were planning on doing. I believe last time I checked we were discussing refinery and the double being so close to Marine Start.
Any updates? New minimaps to check out?

It's strange you didn't mention Engine, which is the first thing I'm going to fix.
As for ref and double... well, I don't have an exact plan yet for double, but there's a lot of suggestions in a thread in Public Beta Discussion if you're interested in reading what's been suggested.

I like the idea of MS > Engine but (as I'm sure you know and have been told a thousand times before [soz] it's too short). My only gripe, which leads me to my current bast 'tactic' (if you can call it that) of staying on the Bridge, sticking upgrade chambers in the chairs etc, WoL'ing it up nice and gooood and spamming 'Commander Gorge' binds. I've never lost a game as Aliens with that tactic because all of our chambers are safe and no-one ever goes there.
BTW you can drop 3 of type-chambers in the furthest foreward chair on the right side and they sink into oblivion, meaning that you never lose your upgrades...
Not many people know/or would be loony enough to do that so you probs don't need to worry 'bout it.

I think this is the problem though, its far to easy for a 2 decent rines to build up in dbl, even if the aliens start at feed. One covering and one building, who stops when fire starts to help pretty much won't be stopped early game. This means rines pretty much always can get 3 res nodes within 1 min.

I wouldn't mind working on it with you if you need the help. It's the holidays next week and I've already done the majority of my work, got some spare time free if you really need some help.

i say you dump it mendasp and make a new map with similar layout, but totally different.

erm... I'd ask to help, but my skill level is nowhere near what yours is... 0o'
I could do basic brushwork and such, along with some lighting and texturing... but vertex editing is still a stick up my butt atm (keep screwing it up by looking at the 3D picture backwards and then editing it per the picture XD) but I don't think I'd be of much use to you... would I

(Which reminds me... I must get back to work on beta-2 sometime.)
I haven't noticed the big issues with engine but I guess I can hazard a guess. When b5 bast came out I posted my comments on engine in the bast discussion post but they were mainly cosmetic.
it's a 21 seconds run if you don't do anything "special" and 15s if you know how to move, that's the problem with engine I was fixing, I don't like the new back-entrance much, but I think it's going to stay for a while... :S
So far I've only changed the MS a bit, the "engine fix" and I tried changing the docking storage room into a reception, although it's quite empty at the moment and I'll probably end doing a completely different room (not involving lots of crates).
