Aliens Are Bankrupt

Why do we have to be so poor?
The aliens have a huge disadvantage to the marines. The marines get like 80 resources in the beginning the aliens none. The cost to build a resource tower for the marines 22 the cost to evolve and build a resource chamber for aliens 35. Tell me why this is considered balanced because this is definately a problem for the aliens and this is why its so easy for the marines. Please give the aliens some resources in the begging enough to evolve and be able to build a resource chamber in the beginning of the game. And if not please tell me why it is like this.

Well, that's why you only leave one guy behind to go gorge as soon as possible and rush the marine camp with the rest... you should be able to damage the marines enuff to negate that advantage.... not to mention marines have to designate a commander and get organized, while you can run them down at the start....

We tried this they killed us all before we had a chance to bite one of them.

Well here is why: A skulk is a ready-to-go, teeth on wheels killing machine, they need no ammo, they can run back to the hive to heal extremely fast, the INSTANT they spawn they're ready to go and kill, they only have to leave 1, or max of 2 Gorges behind to build defenses, and the instant they spawn they can start going after resource nodes.

The marines on the other hand need to build a turret factory, a few turrets, for defenses, and this takes MORE than 1 or 2 marines to do because they also need to be covered. An armory, because marines fight with guns not teeth...and infantry portals because they don't want to be dead forever, and marines cannot go after resource nodes right away because if they do they leave their base unattended.

I hope that explains it to ya. And most importantly, alien resources are INDIVIDUAL, while the marines have a shared pool of resources, do a few calculations and u'll see that it works out.

Then they we're a good Marine team. Alternatively, hang around the entrance and don't let them come out. That'll slow down their expansionistic ways some.

I know about that to but not every alien player is mart enough to do that and besides its still a bit of a disadvantage.

This argument is rediculous. Aliens win many, many times, just as many times if not more than the marines. It's the fault of those alien players who cannot follow through with the strategy that ZeroByte mentioned.

.Unit explained it just as it is.

Mutant - If you're going to post about balance issues, "Aliens too weak", "marines overpowered" etc. then you really should have chosen a less ironic sig.
On a more constructive note... Taurus made a very good point with regard to the game's balance [www.natural-selection.org/forums/]. Give the players a while to get to grips with the game and I'm sure you'll find things balance themselves out. If not... THEN you can complain!

From experience, when the game is started, all kharaa have 10 rps in the bank. after a bit, new players start with 0 (I assume this is to head off any exploits).

And one tactic that kharaa players seem unable to grasp is DO NOT EVOLVE TO GORGE UNTIL YOU HAVE THE RPS TO ACTUALLY BUILD SOMETHING! You are totally vulnerable while you wait for the rps. Better to stay as a skulk and at least be able to defend the node or location than get RPs a little faster (in many situations anyway)...

Whats truly aggravating, at the beginning, several aliens go gorge and then you get the arguments about resources.

    Take care

Are you kidding? The Aliens are EASY; they totally rock!
The problem is that you don't know how to win.

For both sides, its knowing (early in game) to secure a 2nd hive is what makes a difference. Limiting Aliens' ability to not be able to get Onos + more upgrades is what makes a game harder for Aliens. HMG/heavy armor is just about an even match for Fades, even though I would like Marines to be able to have Medium armor (think of it as tier2 and heavy armor for tier3, for Onos). But then again I'm not suggesting medium armor.

Add. But if Marines DO allow Aliens to get all 3 hives and not even secure one in the first place, they deserve to be **obscenity**-raped w/o lube.

I think its really annoying when you are alien that you cant seem to "starve" the marines to death. They are completely boxed in and only have one res spot, but still they keep coming at you with nade launchers, powerarmour etc. If aliens have only one res spot its asta-la-bye-bye.

Hell defend yourself as an alien is extremely easy IMHO, especially in early game. Here are a few tips that might help you a bit as a skulk.

    1. You can climb walls and walk on the ceiling, so use this ability.

    2. Don´t rush the marines like most people do in CS. Camp on top of a doorway and listen for marine footsteps. If you hear any be sure not to make any noise or they might catch you. When you see them jump down (You can jump down from nearly any place, you don´t take any falling damage as a skulk), get behind them and eat their brain.

    3. Get back in position or, better yet, search for another spot nearby. Most players will only look at the place where you have been and then move along.

    4. Get another one or two skulks to assist you. This way the marines might be too freaked out to advance any further.

Well, hope that helped you a bit.

also, a gorge counts as 3 aliens when he gets resourses, so the ones that *need* the resourses actually get them quite fast as long as you only have 1 or *posibly* 2 gorges.

If they're coming at you with heavy armor and grenade launchers and you only have one hive, your team sucks. Regardless, you can still come back.
