When you play an ns_ map and have 2 or 3 hives, you armour increases in strength right? How about when you are playing a co_ map and you unlock next ability does that make the armour stronger?
I mean, carapace gives you 30 armor as skulk. Silence = total silence Focus = full strength?
I know level1 silence = 33%, lv2 = 66% and lv3 = 100% silence.
And you look at the upgrade icon, there are three stacked on each of them...
I know "unlock ability" just gives you the extra abilities associated with hives. So for skulk, unlock ability 1 wil just give you Leap, and unlock ability 2 will allow for xenocide.

The armor level is like that to keep aliens weaker in combat during the late game.
Otherwise if they had the exact same armor level in co as they did the entire time in classic mode either aliens would dominate combat more so than they do now, or marines would dominate classic more so than they do now.

Except that that topic is wrong. When playing combat games, I will frequently see my health drop to 64/3. This is in the opening minute of the game, when marines can't have weapon upgrades. If it was hive2 absorption, then I just went from 95 hp (equivalent) to 71.5 hp. That just isn't possible. With hive1 absorption, I just went from 90 hp to 70 hp. That's 20 damage, or 2 lmg bullets. So, combat has hive1 armor absorption.
Combat has hive 1 absorbtion, but I have seen too manyt imes here that people keep saying it's hive 2, so I went to test.
I had a friend who was a marine shoot me with a single lmg bullet every second, as I was a skulk. It took 9 level 0 damage LMG bullets, 90 damage, to kill me as a skulk.
