<div class="IPBDescription">for HL2?</div> Just wondering how many people have a comp worthy of halflife 2, and if they have CS:S how it runs. and will run on HL 2.

I have a geforce 2 mx 200, a card nearly as old as my grandmother (still faithful none the less), but i fear that my old car will not fair to well. Oh and i have a gig of ram and amd 2100 xp processor

    I have a Sager 5690 laptop. 3.2 Ghz P4, 1 gig 400 Mhz RAM and a Mobility Radeon 9700 128 Mb. (rough desktop equivalent of the GPU is a 9600 Pro/XT)

    Should run it fairly well. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    AMD Athlon 2600 XP, 512 RAM, and a Radeon 9500 Pro. Should fare well enough until I build my very own Athlon 64 system.

    As soon as I add some RAM (I only have 196), I should be fine.

    I think my Athlon 2500+ / 1Gb DDR400 / Ti4600 128Mb should run it OK. I'll be looking at a graphics card upgrade in the not too distant future as well.

    No

    I'm so close to taking out a line of credit to buy a new one, I've been pricing one for awhile now around 1800 (canadian) when its all said and done. My only problem is that those previews for nForce4 boards are looking sweet. It'll also allow me to build the system I want (amd 64, pci-express, ati x700, sata hard drives). Those better ship soon.

    Wait wait wait... you have 196 meg of (probably) crappy ram... and a 9800XT...

    You realise that your video card has more memory than your computer?

    I predict that I'll run HL2 Flawlessy. (Much like I do with CSS and Doom3).

    Intel Pentium 4, 2.8 GHZ (Overclocked to 3.1 GHZ).
    ATI Radeon 9800 128mb (Will Overclock and get Omea drivers when HL2 is released).
    Sounblaster Audigy 2
    1 gig of Corsair Dual channel DDR Ram. (Twin 512 sticks).

    +All drivers for everything. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    P.S. I bought this rig a little over a year ago.

    You all are way to reliant on new stuff... My Radeon 9000 Pro and my athlon XP 2000+ Run most games fine.

    Including UT2003 (never got 2004) and Doom3

    I should be able to run HL2 with ease. [ot]On that note, is the 9000 pro better than the 9200?

    I got the 9000 pro when it was fairly new for about $120 Then I built my mom a comp with a 9200 that cost like $50... hmmm.... That comp also runs Doom 3 and only has 1/2 the ram (256 megs and an athlon XP 1800+)[/ot]

    Yeah bloody right. That's like asking me if I can fly. Where do you people get your oodles of money. Doesn't college take any of it from you? College stole all my monies.

    I upgraded a few weeks ago, so many good looking games coming out this winter.
    Shouldn't have a problem running any of them <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    1 Gig Corsair XMS Dual Channel PC3200 RAM
    Athlon 64 3800 @2.6ghz (overclocked 200mhz) with 200mhz fsb (I NEED TO FIX THAT.)
    120 GB Ultra ATA 133 Seagate Hard Drive

    EDIT: New score is 10800 with the cat 4.10.

    *pets precious computer*

    I think I will run HL2 Flawlessly.

    EDIT2: I don't go to college. The 10th grade doesn't hurt too many people's pockets.

    I dont know much about the 9xxx series, but if your card is DX7 Capable, then you are fine. Just gotta turn things down a bit <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    May I suggest an upgrade on the video card anyways? **** man, get a 9600 if at all possible...just sell your 9200 and the difference shouldn't be too bad.

    Technically you could compare your HL2 preformance to doom 3, but not really. Your CPU/RAM takes care of a lot of the texturing. (A lot of what Doom 3 focuses on) While your vcard takes care of special stuff like lighting and shading, but most of all it draws the Polys. HL2 Focus's mainly on polyguns, with a lot of great textures too. So, I suggest a really good video card and a mildly good CPU, with some good ram if you want good speeds on HL2 for a cheap price.

    AMD Barton 3200+
    Radeon 9800 XT 256 MB Sapphire ( CAT 4.10 Drivers)
    Kingston PC 3200 512x2
    Biostar M7NCD Standard
    Sound Blaster Audigy SZ 7.1 Surround (Might be changed to Turtle Beach because Augidy drivers just plain suck and cause too many sound problems).

    CS:S: 1024x768 32 bit - Video test I get around 102 FPS everything maxed. I believe I have AF on Trilinear and AA is just off. During multiplayer low 30's (De_Aztec) high 90's (any other map).

    Doom 3 Ultra Graphics 40 FPS most of the time

    I hope I will get an average of at least 60 FPS... but what I've heard about nVidia cards and this game's performance with them scare me... =(

    Oh well, I will have a blast regardless, I've, and most of this community has been waiting a long time for HL2.

    I'm thinking with my christmas money, depending on how i feel at the time, might go towards either more ram or a new CPU.. Or other personal stuff =]

    I believe i will be able to run HL2 on medium.. the perfect mix of graphics and flawless performance

    Trust me, if my computer will run Doom 3, yours will run HL2...

    :edit: BTW, remember what the sys requirements were? I remember them saying likr 800mhx or somthign like that with a 32 meg gfx card and 256 megs of ram. Source is not as intensive as Doom 3...
