Reasons For Kicking/banning Ppl...

First of all, I want to congratulate the makers for the great mod they've made!!!
Now, what i want to ask you guys about: why/when do you kick someone??? I play Half-Life since the beginning (four years now) and I'm kinda proud that I very rarely (to say almost never) get kicked from a CS/DOD/HL/TFC/whatever server!!
Now, I've stumbled upon NS with the hype and all of that... but since it's on my HD three days now, I got kicked from 3 servers without any good reason and even banned from one!!!
I've read the things in the guides which you guys have put in the forums about the listening to the commander, being a good soldier and all that. Even so, because I'm a fierce fav of teamplay (I'm in several clans, the Online Warfare Pact for DOD, etc.), I help my team where-ever I can, I don't use the chat for obscene language, don't even cheat,... .
Still, just several minutes ago,I got kicked again by some admin from some dutch server for no apparent reason (I have broadband so even ping is not the issue here!). I just went to his waypoints and when I got there, there was nothing to shoot at, to build or whatever, so I just stand fast after letting the commander know that I was in position... and then I got kicked!!!
Since I'm a n00b to NS, I don't know what I've been doing wrong to deserve a kick... So, now I want to know from you guys: why do you guys kick people apart from the obvious things you don't want to do as a regular player...
The only thing that I can imagine is the admin and the commander being one and the same person who doesn't think I am not enough of a teamplayer or whatever I did wrong to offense him as a commander.
It just baffles me that some admins react like this and I find it quite offensive as a regular multiplay-gamer coming over from the day of defeat scene (which has a name of being all about teamplay and so on!)
I hope you guys don't think of this as a flame. I respect the things you do for player but this is just something too much of an annoyance for me to just let it be.

1. They're clearing out the server for shutdown or a private/clan match. Not much you can do.
2. The admin's on a power trip and being a wad. Again, not much you can do.
You did nothing wrong - in fact, you did everything right. Commander gave you an order - you hopped to it like a good little jarhead, and when there was nothing there - you waited and asked for further orders. Astounding - most Rambos would go off on a hunt and get slaughtered by a roving Skulk.
Anyhow, there's plenty of servers out there. Search around, play on one fairly often. Get known. Be nice to the admins; if they're commanding, do everything they say. Word will get around that you're a good player and much respect will come.

That's one thing that could be happening as well. Don't take it personal. Although, responsible admins should be telling you before if they are doing this so that you don't get offended.
Cheers!
You're joking right?
As for being kicked/banned...don't play there. As long as you followed the admin and server rules, you were fine. Also, it might have been an accident if someone else was being a jerkoff and your WONID or ServerID was mistaken for theirs. (believe me, it happens ALOT)
I suggest that you give out the Server Names and IPs. Oh wait...I did that and my thread was deleted.... I wonder why...? Hmm...I sense a conspiracy.... *Strokes chin*
i will tell people that i'm kicking them for this reason from now on. I don't remember your name, but i try to kick the ppl i don't recognize. You know the non-regulars.

My server is full almost 24/7.....thank goodness its linux! Because adminmod works like a champ (finally) and i got my reserved slots to work (yepie!). Although, i had to kick the "non-regulars" before i got it working, just to play on my own server. It was quite trouble some. But then, some ppl lagged out and then said i kicked them even though i wasn't even kicking anyone so hey...it happens.
I Found a hacker on my server today. I don't run HLgaurd, but when a HMG's bullets go into one spot 100% of the time, don't u see that as supisious?? i mean, not a single stray bullet?! and the fact that the guys reaction time was faster than his ping was another clue. skull camping on the ceiling, the guy is walking past him, gets half way down the hallway and BAM kills the skull with 100% accuracy.....a 180 to 100% hhhmmmm. Not saying you anyone on this board does that, just watch some of those really good, yet quiet players.
haha, i dunno what that has to do with anything but yeah.
Some people where kicked for spamming (antiflood plugin took care of them).
I don't kick/ban without warnings, 'cept the autokicks by plugins.
One way the reserveslots system is working is that it always kicks the latest joined player. That could have been you I guess. This being a dutch server, maybe they insisted on speaking dutch, (Dutch often are like that, no offence:) and they said something to you in dutch and you didnt listen.
I kick players who dont switch teams withing ten seconds of me telling them to do so. I usually say player go to aliens, you have 10 seconds, or I will kick you. This is because of teambalance of course. I will also kick players for not stopping their blabbering along in any other language than english. On my server you show politeness to others by speaking a language they understand, or go play somewhere else. And of course I will kick players spamming the chat or the voice-com.
I will ban players who obviously just want to mess things up for others. I will also ban, if I catch a player doing going to, say aliens, when the teams are 7 vs 7, and the aliens are about to win the match. And I will also ban bug-exploiters or cheaters (Bug exploiters usually get a warning) To relate it to something you all know, a bug exploiter might for instance be a player running along above the ct's spawn at de_dust in counterstrike. (He has then exploited a bug in the map to get up there)
Carefull with doing that, some people will take it the wrong way and try to smear you. I'm always at issue with this, but I have come to a certain conclusion.
If there are players who speak in a nother language, or write in another language, they should not be kicked solely for that purpose. This would bring it down to discrimination. If people are still capable of working togethr on your team, and are not being dispruptive, then we, as admins, have no right to kick them. Forcing someone to speak english, and kicking them if they don't is not right at all.
I live in Montreal Quebec, and I would never kick off anyone for speaking french because why should it change anything? The truth of the matter is language, just looking at it plainly, is that it changes nothing. I'm dating a beautifull woman whose language at home is French. Am I going to tell her to never speak French to me? I don't think so. [ Not if I ever want kids ]
Business over the internet is always transacted in English, yes. Why limit gaming to this? Gaming shold reach out to everyone, and not everyone speaks the same language.
Maybe you'll meet a foreigner one day on your server, and he'll have some interesting things to say while you wait out to respawn. Just because a person does not speak english doesn't make him less able to help your team win than anyone else. And I don't see how other people will get offended. You just have to play your role in the game to win, that's all it takes.
This is not at all meant as a personal attack DarkSpawn. I've noticed this trend in many other servers I have been on, and it is still one thing that bothers me about online gaming communities.
Cheers!
@ darkspawn.
I must say, I'm belgian and my native language is dutch... so language is not an issue. But I heard the commander blubbering something through his headset. The HL voice communication system is not very good: half the time, I can't make up what pps say because of a bad connection or configuration.
I think that something like making a player change teams in the next 10 seconds or something important should be done via the chat (where everyone can clearly read it!!) and not through the voice comm.
The admin on that server didn't even try to reach me via the common chat but kicked me instead...
I have heard that as well.
Here is a voice comm tweak page. It is for CS, but I think it will work for NS also.
http://www.netspeed.com.au/mckibbin/cs/cs_...s_voicecomm.htm
Only half true, only the first line of the motd will be displayed. (Can only speak for Linux server)
kick: if AFK for more than 2-3 minutes especially if on loosing side. kick if people demand things from the commander ex("I won't leave the CC until you give me a HMG") especially when they don't have resources for them and especially when they don't have the tech yet(morons). kick if they are being @$$'s.
We ban if people are trying to hack the rcon, come back after being kicked and do the same or other offense, or my favorite "this server suck's (my ping, lag, the other players, whatever)". ban if anybody starts destroying their own teams stuff.
we laugh if someone say's the admins on a power trip, because it's kind of redundant.
our MOTD works on a win XP system. 1 long line, but ends up being 4 on the server.
Basicly I think that ignoring a message from an admin to speak english so that others can understand you, is a sign of being the kind of person I dont want on my server. To put it bluntly, a punk.
I run the server, I consider myself adult enough to set proper rules, and I dont tolerate any ignoring my commands at all. And yes I do believe I have the right to kick whoever I want based on this principle.
btw, I never use voicecomm, dont even have a mic, so all orders from me as an admin come in the chat.
