Can Never Connect To Server No Matter What

Problems with connecting to servers
Unable to connect ot any servers using any means.

- CPU speed and make 1ghz AMD Thunderbird
- Graphic card: Asus 3800
- Operating system Windows Me
- Graphics mode and resolution OpenGL 32bit Res
- Connection 576kbs ASDL

When ever I try to connect to a server it just hangs a little while after receiving WON authorisation.
I've tried using Gamespy Arcade, HSLW and the game itself but no matter how i try to connect i still get the same result.

I can however start my own server and play but that is all I can do.

I've attached a screenshot of where the problem occurs exactly.

You running any sort of a firewall (zonealarm, etc.) or behind a router? Can you connect to servers using normal Half-life (or CStrike if that's what you have)?

No I don't have any firewalls running and I can connect to COunter Strike, Day of Defeat and the normal Half Life every time.

Ok, did you try to connect to multiple different servers? I say this because I've hung at the same spot you did a few times and trying a different server or two did the trick. Who knows, maybe it filled up in the time it took you to join. Also, you could try reinstalling NS or just to see if it makes a difference install the 1.01 server patch.

Another thing to check might be to see if you have your connection setting configured within the game itself.

I'll try with the server patch and my internet connection is set properly I've tied 23 different servers would you beleive and empty ones to make sure i'd get in.

    Thanks man

No problem man, wish I could be more help. I'm kind of re-learning the quirks and stuff of the half-life engine, since I haven't even had it installed since I completed OpFor about a year ago and I never really played it online even then

Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will chime in at this point

Out of curiousity, are you guys running any client-side anti-cheat software?

have you tried different video modes?
have you tried disabling all of the hardware sound? (unusual, but actually messed up a friends comp)
how much ram do you have?
have you defraged your hard drive?(has caused mine to freze on me)
