Vis refuses to work
All of a sudden Vis refuses to work with my new version of ns_phenix and i ahve no idea why.
it just skips vis, even though i have a valid prt file.
It doesn´t even write something in the log so i can´t find the error.
i tried this with both the old vis files (ZHLT p13 & 15) and the new public beta 2.
Any ideas what causes this?

  • PithlitPithlit Join Date: 2003-05-07 Member: 16120Members, NS1 Playtester, Constellation
nope, as i said, Hlfix, csg und bsp ru n fine, i have a valid prt file to start vis with, but i just refuses to start vis.
it says vis started and teh it begins with rad, wich misses the vis information

This isn't really the place to post every mapping problem you encounter, but NEO_Phyte is probably right to mention that you might have a leak. The compile will only go as far as it needs. So during HLBSP it will find the leak and VIS will draw the pointfile and quit.

in the future try asking or looking for help at:

I can't see that VIS is being run at all. Double-check that you're actually telling your compiler to run VIS.

edit: what I'm saying is, if VIS ran, it would say "--- Begin HLVIS" or whatever it is that it says. Right now, it's not even being run (not RAD either). Are you using VHE or Batch Compiler?

Vis is being run, i can post a screen of the compile window if you like, and im using batch compiler.
I disactivated rad, since its no use without vis and jsut takes to much time.
But thats exactly the thing that stunns me.
in the compiler window it says that it starts vis, but it does nothing and the it starts rad. and there is no entry in the log.

Hmm, could you post the batch created by Batch Compiler here so we could take a look?

There should be a file called Batch.bat, I believe, where you installed Batch Compiler.

I have a compile.bat, that should be it:

Looks to me like VIS is crashing, duh! Make sure you have the latest tools and if you do post a bug report in this thread. You might have to send the developers your map so they can debug HLVIS (so keep a non wroking version).

After all, it seems it wasn´t the compilers fault, but VHEs
I used an older backup and combined it with part2 of the map (i map it in different files, to cut compile time) and thus getting the b14 stage again, and well it runs smooth, now, no idea what was broken
