<div class="IPBDescription">Another day, another low poly model</div> <!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->Wooo! I know you all have been salivating for this one! Heh heh. So yeah, it's a low poly phase gate. It's not just a standard phase gate with all the fiddly bits cut out, though. That would have been 116 polys, and wouldn't have been worth a release, as it's been done before. I took the time to rearrange it and bring it down to 104 polys, so it's 44% of the original polycount of 238. It looks as default as possible, though there is some unavoidable texture streching due to the way it's rearranged. I tried to minimize the streching as much as possible, but it's not perfect.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

These low poly models actually look very nice, not as I expected at all...

Good job in helping the less fortunate people with their craptasctic pc's <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I love how your models keep the quality they should as compared to certain low poly models which just insult the original. /me points finger at extremely low poly gorge

Heh. Thanks, DeathKnight. Yeah, that's most of the reason I'm doing these low poly models. I was tired of seeing low poly models that might have been okay if only they were well skinned. I can see why now... It's so tedious to skinmesh a model. I have a lot of respect for people like CoolCookieCooks who are willing to skinmesh much more complicated models than I'm doing.

For one fewer polies=less for the graphics engine to render. And for those of us with lower end machines that is an overall great help. Although I have a 2Ghz machine I am using my Pentium II 333 most of the time. With the addition of these low poly models my FPS has gone from 30 fps to 45 fps while viewing the marine structures. I hope you do a full pack of everything. Player models and alien structures/player models as well. And my PII will worship you as a god. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

What building are you going to make next, and are you going to make low poly alien buildings?

The arms lab is almost done - I need some votes on it's wip thread before I'll release it, though. The Infantry Portal is what I'm working on next while I'm waiting for votes; and I expect to release it before monday, though I can't give an exact time.

After I finish the marine structures, I plan on doing some v_ models, but I'm not going to do the alien structures, except maybe if I've done everything else. Check out my Low Poly Armory thread, at the bottom of the first page. I listed a lot of low poly stuff that's already been released in the past by other people. One of the things I use is Ollj's low poly pack, which includes a lot of alien structures.

    Have a guess...

Hint: .mdl files don't say "OMG OLOOLLOL LOOK AT MEH I R JUST A LOWPOLY DEFAUHLT MODEL SOH DUNT CHECKZ0R ME 4 CONSISTENCY!!!!" anywhere.

If the JP wasn't lurking in the submodel appartment perhaps the Devs could use low poly models, officially, and help those people with bad PCs.

I want a low-poly gorge, which should be low poly in the way that the model is reduced to the beautiful gorge-butt <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
