Acid Rockets.. Bug? Expolit?

I often see people spamming about someone expoliting acid rockets. What they mean is that someone shooting acid rockets through the walls. To those of you who dont know, if you shoot acid rockets at wall, it hurts the marines other side. Specially in maps when marines are building sieges in the other side of your hive, if you shoot the wall, it hurts the marines. The acid rockets doesnt physically get there, but the effect does. So I was just wondering if this is a bug or is it suppose to be like that? I always thought that was the purpose of acid rockets. I alwys shoot acid rockets at walls when theres somone in the other side. *As a reslut, in pubs I alwyas get yelled at*

Some abilities can go through extremely thin walls. It's simply a bug with the HL engine and the way that some alien abilities are designed. Not a lot can be done about it except for redesigning the map. It's considered illegal in most forms of competitive play. Fortunately there are very few places on official maps where it is possible to fire anything through a wall and have it damage anyone.

Yeah, they're trying to fix it atm, and they've made it harder to shoot it through walls. For now we just have to hope mappers take this into account when they make their map :/

heheh, talking about siege maps makes me remeber of 1.04 when if you were good enough you could blink into the ready room, and then blink into the marine area before the doors would open

and what bob says is true

yeah, this is why they removed co_rebirth, cause a gorge can bile bomb the cc from below marine start

Nah, co_rebirth was in fact left out of b5 accidentally. Oops! If it was going to be removed, it wouldn't be removed for this reason, which can be fixed simply by making the floor a bit thicker in that area.

Then I guess it's kind of the same thing as when the turrets shoot at aliens thats behind a thin door, but cant do any damage. Also in TFC, if you build a turret it shoot at people through doors but does no damage. They dont effect game play much. But in CS, if you play with bots, when they start shooting through doors, it's another story. I guess it's a bug in the engine.

I noticed in Beta 4a that you couldnt acid rocket through the weldable noob-node on Lost. That sucked because rines could still exploit to get in there.

Actually the only thing missing for rebirth is the wad file. The map itself is there. But wad files won't get uploaded to clients like the maps will, so it just errors out.

A little copy-paste will fix it, but it's still out of the map rotation on most servers because of it.

As well, if the model/hitbox is big enough it will also clip through extremely thin walls, allowing that player to get shot at and damaged.

Yes, because exploiting the engine to get shot at more is a good idea.

I remember Flayra saying "Oops! I've just been informed co_rebirth isn't in the release!" but he said that before the official release so I was wondering why they didn't already put it back :/
