Any Suggestions On This?

<div class="IPBDescription">Screenies included need advice..</div> <a href='http://www.angelfire.com/rock3/gibby/index2.html' target='_blank'>If you like turrets, you'll like this. I don't like turrets. So this makes me sad.</a>

Amazingly enough we got the first one cleared. The second, however, was a lost cause. Anyone got any suggestions for breaching Turretville, USA? <!--emo&::skulk::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/skulk.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='skulk.gif'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::sentry::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/turret.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='turret.gif'><!--endemo-->

That would rip anything that got in there up. Also, there are 3 turrets behind the Turret factory that's against a wall in the back.

*thought this was fixed in the patch*

Ive recently been learning the lerk, and a lerk with umbra backed by a fade or even a skulk can handle huge turrets farms as long as the marines arent watching.

Have the skulk leap (or fade blink) and lerk fly to the Turret Factory. Umbra, and then bite the factory till it dies, even if 3 turrets are shooting you umbra will let you take the hits. Of course this takes some teamwork, and it isnt always possible to get someone to help, but often times you can get a player to give you a hand.

And if you get 3 hives, then its very easy, just umbra an Onos, and watch him kill all the turrets without even bothering with the factory =p

No, it wasn't. The turret factory was surrounded by turrets. And it's not going to happen with a 1-hive no-upgrades skulk team <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->.

General strategy - don't attack the heavily turreted rooms. If they spent that much resources on turrets in one room, they should have less in another room somewhere. Unless of course you guys are losing already, and they got tons of resources, so turrets aren't the problem, fully equiped marines are. If you cut off the turreted room, it will be easier to wear down, since no marines can come to get turrets back up or to weld.

Both are for base turtling (down to their last base and staying there)

Easier method (way slower) - If you have them pinned into their starting area. Get gorges to build seven Defense chambers(all bunched together) right outside all the entrances to their base, yet out of siege turret range. Make sure you get Onos coming in on both sides and just focusing on turrets only, kill 1 turret and go back for heal. If anyone actually comes out, kill him and make sure no one picks up the gun he dropped (HMG, launcher, etc) It'll take awhile, but you should be able to wear down there resources.

If you have more players, some should go lerks or fade and act as support. Fade should just spew bile bombs hoping to take out more marines (costing them more resources, since the likely have armor, hmg, or welder) or to take out mines (if they have any) Lerk should umbra and use plague (same point as bile bomb)

(suggested upgrades - carapace and celerity(onos) andreline (others). regen is not that useful due to your healing defense chambers and that extra bit of armor while attacking may mean you taking out that turret or not. Celerity because you should beable to gore(or charge) a single turret to death without losing all your energy. Andreline for others since you need to be constantly pumping out attacks to cause a distraction)

Harder method (faster) - You'll need a distraction. Setup outside the same, since you don't want them breaking out. Get a few people to go fade(these will be the attackers). The rest go whatever (one should stay back since most likely everyone will die) Everyone should just attack the front, causing a huge wall of plague, onos, bile bomb, in order to block the marines view. With this distraction fades should blink in and all concentrate on a key building that is decided earlier (turret factory, CC, etc.) your fades will either succeed in taking that down, since most fire should be on your main force. If marines focus on your fades, then the main group will take down several turrets.

In your second case, I don't think it is possible. Since you only have 1 hive, and if they have the resoruces to setup all those turrets, they most likely have system of phase gates also, and fully equiped marines. Even assuming you have fades (evolved before your hives went down) Marines will come in to support their turrets, and once you lose your fades, I don't see how skulks and lerks could take down a group of marines like that. Assuming no one comes, your best bet is to use lerks to kill the back 3 turrets, and then take out the factory. However the marines will most likely be assaulting your last hive or coming in to kill you all.

Bile bomb. Preferabbly regeneration and adrleine fade. You can heal and you can also launch more then a few. It will take a while, but it is the best seige weapon of the game. Not ocuntingthe onos horn of course.

I would get a gorge to heal me and build defense chambers in his spare time. I would become a fade with carapace, adrenaline and/or adv. hive sight. Jump, blink to the wall behind the turret factory and hide behind it so only three turrets can see me and beat on the factory until I had lost most of my armour, then blink out of the room and get healed.

Carapace: Must have. Absorbs 60% of the damage.
Adrenaline: Two blinks and a fast attack takes energy.
Hive sight: Marine hurt much more than turrets.

If you have three hives, turn into an Ono with the same upgrades and you will have no problem.

Another thing I saw someone do is run to a factory, stop and cloak while he is being shot. He then regenerates, attacks, cloaks and loops. Without carapace you are damaged twice as fast, though. :\

Oh, also Primal Scream does more than speed you up, it makes you avoid damage too:

To blink i find that you have to duck to get it to work right sometimes i think it is because of low ceiling.

if they have many turrets their either:

    1. not getting upgrades
    2. getting upgrades and your not doing your job of keeping the nodes away from them!

    Hmm, brings back memories....

It was Tanith, the annoying one with only 2 small corridors into the marine start. Early game, the marines expanded quickly, and had over half the resource nodes. Fortunately this meant they were spread very thinly. We took over the 2 hive locations and have 3 hives in about 20 mins. In the mean time the rest of my team was hitting them with fades and pushing them back. By the time we had Onos they were back to their base and had only the only resource towers. End game you'd think, right? Well, we tried forever. They had seiges cannons in there so we couldn't build too close, and easily 40 sentry turrets in that small room. I checked it out a a skulk, carapace and selarity and I barely got in the door, next time I ran along the wall and up to the ceiling inside, just alive long enough to see that they had sentry turrets blocking everything, entrances, CC, turret factories...it was madness. They seemed to keep coming with an endless stream of HMGs, HAs, GLs, Tripmines, shotguns... Dozens of Onos ran in only to fall in seconds. Fade's couldn't get any kind of a clear shot with Bile Bombs, and Onos couldn't charge in easily through those passages. We tried using Umbra but the Lerks died too fast, then they just welded the turrets back together. Skulks died much to fast to use Suicide, And Gorge Babblers were useless because the turrets would kill them before they could do any damage.

The game was stalemated like that until the server reset, I don't even know how long is was, we never could get through their turtling.

    K.

First, Bile Bomb seems obvious. Not applicable though because it's BUGGED and does no damage to structures. And we had 1 hive.

Secondly, they all had HA and HMGs. They would get new ones every time they spawned. "wearing down" their resources is also Not applicable, because it's still bugged.

Third, notice we had 1 hive. No umbras, no fades.

So it's hopeless? We lost that one anyways, just wondering if anyone had an insightful way of dealing with it (READ: exploit or glitch <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> )

What are you talking about? The two screen shots are from different maps.

Everyone was talking about the first screen shot. As for the second screen shot, my advice is to build some defense chambers before worrying about turrets. <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='confused.gif'><!--endemo-->

For taking out turrets farms? I say don't, but that's just me. When I see when, first thing is put parasites on all of them, so your team knows it's there and won't run blindly into it accidently. Second, assess the situation, if I can get to the Tfac, and have a reasonably good chance of destroying it - No marines around, turrets only on one side, can get a clear shot with acid/needle - then take it out. If you can't take it out that way is it really worth trying to destroy, unless it's in a hive just go around. It's very difficult to take out large groups of turrets without umbra/onos.

Hmm, tricky. As I'm a mad attacking carapaced skulk expert (and rather successful one at that if I say so myself), I would leap into that hole and while biting, strafing and jumping on the turrets keeping my eye on the armour. When it goes down as it should, I retreat to heal (hopefully close by or I wouldn't bother with that room). Then its just a matter of rince and repeat. The worst thing a skulk can be is being afraid to die. If you managed a few tryes before dieing, thats a success in my book.

[Hint:] Don't stop jumping and strafing while running out of turreted rooms, if you have leap attack use it while going out (and in if you think no marines are nearby, that leap attack is very loud, but the snapping sound that you make when attacking turrets are more easily missed by the marines. )
