<div class="IPBDescription">or best thing since sliced bread?</div> Yesturday I went to my local video game store to reserve Halo 2. They had no special editions left so I got regular Halo. They said I can come to the midnight opening Nov 8th (techinically the 9th) to get my copy. I went with the VIP status (already paid in full so I walk in they ask my name, they give me halo) Which they said would go much faster. "How long will I have to wait?" I ask. "oh, if you arrive at 10 pm and wait 2 hours in line you probably have to wait 2 hours after store opens at midnight to get your copy" "Your kidding" I said "Nope, some reports say that this release is bigger then when color tv was made cheap and available to all people"
The employee went on to tell me that the line will probably be wrapped all the way out of the mall (store is in the mall). Now I really really hope this guy was just overly enthusiastic
edit:mall is big and store is right in the middle. There would need to be 1500 people in line to make in reach outside!! Muhahahah.....

I can tell you right now that total, among the 5 stores in the Harrisburg, PA area, we have about <i>five thousand</i> reserves for Halo 2. And that's just a rough estimate, with a month to go.
They were not kidding. Get there early.
Edit: These are the figures for Gamestop alone, mind you. EB probably has similar numbers.

Oh no, you did it now...God is going to smite you.

Well, the outside areas weren't repetitive (as long as you don't focus on the whole "Yea, you played this level 3 levels ago, so?" thing). And it seems Halo 2 will have many more outside areas, so it probably wont be as repetitive. Although, that one level at E3 where they went around the streets looked a bit similar everywhere - but it also didn't have all finished textures (looked very metallic).
No one played Halo for the stellar level design, it's for the immersion of beating the crap out of grunts while yelling at your friend...or shooting your friend in MP...whichever (hopefully they give you a kind of option to balance weapons yourself in Halo 2, that'd be cool). Watch the multiplayer movies...now that looks like fun (though the lack of a health bar seems like it could take out a cool part of the first game).

Personally, I'm just goign to buy it from wal-mart.. I've never had to wait in line there.. actually I've never seen a line specific for one item in my life.
for hours to buy a game. I always seem to read
about people in lines for hours for the likes of Doom 3
and for the new console releases.
I remember paying a £10 deposit on Perfect Dark
all those years ago, but again, I simply walked into
the shop at 9am, picked up my copy, played some
Power Stone with the store owner and then went
home for some non-stop Perfect Dark fun.
I also went into my local GAME rather early to pick-up
my GameCube on launch day. Heh, I took a "Holiday"
from work the day before and my Manager was not very
happy at the amount of hours notice I had given.
(She was at the bus-stop the next morning and I
had to hide, slip away and go to another stop!)
Maybe the area I live in just isn't as eager to get their
hands on the latest technology and games. Hmm.
actually the store I went too said there next shipment will probably be all reserved too and that comes a week later soo people would probably have to wait longer then a few days
I won't be getting Halo 2 by the way, at least until it gets cheap.
possibly the worst post ever
I agree. Also, by the sheer coincedence of having a similar avatar, my post is indeed the very substance you mere forumites <i>wish</i> you could possess: fact.

Excellent! Like something written by Will Self!

<i>"I come for your smiles! Do they echo the bitter soul-rot of sadness? Caw caw!"</i>
<i>"Also: Halo and Half Life are the most overrated videogames ever. I am Self, that was fact. Now excuse me, I'm off to glue children to trees. Smeeh!"</i>
Except for the bit about Half-Life being overrated. That's just bad manners, guy!
/me sighs...
Why can't they release FPS games for PC like normal people do? Making the gameplay worse for the sake of selling on a specific platform...crap...
