Can Anyone Build Us A Gnome Model?

DepotDepot The ModFather Join Date: 2002-11-09 Member: 7956Members
An interesting idea was suggested in this topic and Zamma and crew are going to pursue this BUT ... we need a gnome model to proceed. If anyone out there could create a gnome model it would contribute greatly to this project. Simply follow the size guiedlines in the original post.

Yes we've done an exhaustive search for one, but none exist.

He can, we just want him to have a long white beard and a pick.

Again, what we are looking for is a "dwarf of folklore". This will be a mini-marine so to speak, but he's going to look like a gnome, about half the size of a standard marine, oldish looking with a scraggly white beard, and wielding a pick as a primary weapon with a pistol as his secondary. His primary functions will be to build and repair. If you need a better idea of what we're in need of here read the original topic by Yumosis.

What BAshh is trying to say (I think) is that if you get a working gnome sized marine model then it's much easier to reskin and add bits to it than to build a full gnome model from scratch.

Well put. I am not a modeler but simply coordinating this project.

This is take 1 of the infamous gnome model. I want to test this on my server tomorrow and will need someone to help (preferably 2 plus me). He is 50% as tall as a standard soldier and looks best at this width imho (90%). Of course, there is some skin work to do (less helmet covering face, older looking face, scraggly white beard, and of course a pick as primary weapon).

He looked much better walking and running. Today we will demo him in game to get abetter perspective.

Still searching for a good skinner to do the face work, and someone to make the pick. Credit will be given in the plugin.

Ok the modeling noob needs help here: we tested the gnome ingame and found the hitboxes to be normal. However, he walked about a foot off the ground (crouch was normal).

Is there a workaround for this? It's really the only glitch so far.

It doesn't look as bad ingame as the picture depicts. The problem lies with scaling him down. I think he's shrunk from the top and bottom towards the center, and the center is the same distance from the ground as the original model, hence he's a foot or so off the ground.
